How can I remove holiday decor from community lots?

I can't remember when I last visited a community lot that did not have decor up, holiday or not. I don't mind some Winterfest lights, but there's decor year round, spring, summer, fall. It looks really silly when it's not part of a celebration.

When I try to remove it bu buying the decor box object, I get the message I can't do it because I don't own the lot. So basically, the game has decided that such lots shall be decorated year round, whether I like it or not. Is there a way to remove? Is there a way to avoid it coming back up?

  • This may be a bit late, but I have discovered how to remove all the horrible decorations... Just search for the "The Attic Stack Decorations Box" in build mode. I placed mine in the roof space, clicked on it and the "Remove Decorations" Bingo. Hope this helps

Thanks, but this works on community lots only if you are the owner, right? I never made it work.
  • When starting a new game, on the calendar, there's a box in the left corner that drops down to a list of seasonal decorations on holidays. Select each holiday to 'None' and remove the 'Decorate Tradition' to remove any decorations from all lots all year round.
  • It works for me. Though I haven't ventured outside my main lot recently, except to the vet with my sims' dogs.
