How do you make peace with the randomly generated sims?

I have realised that the reason I can't move beyond about 3 generations in any legacy is that I actually spend hours more on making over the randomly generated sims, and also making over the randomly...

I'm using the no random townie generated mod by Zulf for now, it works well.
