Does anyone know if it is better to place NPCs/self-made Townies as singles, or households of up to 8?
If you want them to be townies like I described (unhoused random sims to show up on community lots) it doesn't matter but it is much easier to do it as 8 person households. You can find a lot of "pretty girl" and "hot guy" 8 sim households on the gallery that are great for this. Be sure you have all the packs that were used so the game doesn't have to replace anything and defeat the purpose.

I really don't like to get gallery Sims generally (even from back in Sims 3 days), I rather Maxis/EA made, or my own makeovers (or else there can be issues with cohesion). I don't tend to want overly hot/pretty Sims as townies, I like average to slightly attractive (most auto I can do small tweaks, so I try to save makeover Sims from previous save files).
I was downloading Maxis households last night, and some previous save file makeover Sims (going to do some more today, setting up a new game/save so prepping). I don't mind making over Sims while live/playing if it is occasionally (1-2 every other RL day) it is when you have to do 4-6+ daily which gets annoying.
