How do you make peace with the randomly generated sims?

I have realised that the reason I can't move beyond about 3 generations in any legacy is that I actually spend hours more on making over the randomly generated sims, and also making over the randomly generated outfits when unplayed premades age-up, than I do actually in game play.

Yes, it is a me problem that I can't make peace with the, let's face it, clowns the game randomly generates to fill NPC roles, etc. I don't even let my sims visit bars anymore because they generate thousands of "bar regulars".

So far, my coping techniques have been mods, but I still find these are hit-or-miss (especially since career outfits don't retain the hairstyle from the makeover).

I need advice then, from people who are able to continue to play (particularly long legacies) despite the state of the randomly generated 'clowns' the game creates after the original premades die off. How do you just remain unbothered?

I really want to do a legacy challenge, but this petty irritation keeps me from getting interested in multi-generational saves.

  • I use MCCC and delete the randoms.  I have many sims saved on my external drive and just move some into my game when needed.  I have stopped for the time being until this game gets more stable and reliable to do legacy.  Which is giving me more time to create my own NPC's and lots. I also use Zulf_NoRandomGeneratedTownies mod. That helps a lot.

  • I have a couple mods like Ellupelluellu to control it. But a lot of it was taking townies into CAS and giving them makeovers and turning them into my townies. I only have two long running saves so it’s easier to modify them now since I don’t get as many as I used to.

I totally understand you gertie47 ! I used to spend half my playtime giving makeovers to the ugly NPCs, and while makeovers can be fun, it became a bit too much, so I installed MCCC. This way I can import townies from my tray, and I only have to redo the NPC kids when they grow up into teenagers.

Also, choosing who I keep in my tray really changes the feel of my neighborhood. I love seeing cowboys, witches, punks, hippies walking around. And a few celebrities here and there. I enjoy having very different-looking Sims. I think I’d be bored in a neighborhood where everyone looks perfect.

  • If they aren't apart of my storyline then I just ignore em. The only time they bother me is when I'm taking candid screenshots and they photobomb me while wearing crazy clothes.

I don’t use mods or CC.  And I don’t really do much legacy play, mine is mostly rotational play, and most of my play is with aging off.  I still do get random townies popping up though.  Townies that really bothers me I will sometimes go in and make over their hair and clothes.  If the sim looks too messed up and they are not an important friend or something, they get deleted.
