How do you play rich sims?

Storytelling. Collections. Hobbies. Vacations. Clubs. Owning avenues. Socializing. Festivals. There is heaps to do. All too often, players get weighed down by the habit of play style and tunnel vision. Try something new. Don't always do the same, 'cause then nothing new will ever happen ;)

This. And they make great serial daters. Lots of parties, building of skills, going to night clubs, building elaborate houses, redecorating said homes, loaning money to friends that will never pay it back(money cheats can be fun). They usually live on large lots so I build elaborate pet houses and small homes for their children to live in. After all, who wants all those messes in your mansion? Lol Sometimes I build a small home for a live in nanny.

Thanks to clubs I can also have a "staff" that shows up once a day to do the work they do not to like gardening, making meals, and taking out the trash. I have a lot of locked doors so that the staff cannot access things like the computers.

I really just ignore their money count and do whatever. Never feel like you have to blow money because you have so much. I also like to build new houses and their money drops way down after that. Don't build a mansion, it will get boring. Just a nice suburban house, 7-8 bedrooms.

It's nice not even thinking about bills in the game, because I have to deal with those thing in real life.

I get bored with rich Sims too. But just now, I followed where my Sim led. She was cooking and started a fire, and she caught fire. Her husband put out her and the stove and the counter, and then the sprinkler came on. So what did she do, all on her own? She started cooking grilled cheese. So now she's got the Grilled Cheese Aspiration :smiley: That should keep that family more interesting for a while, or a least different...

Yeah but this game makes dealing with mundane stuff like fun in a way.

@SikoahGrace I do the same thing with my rich sims, but instead of loaning money, they usually just gift it. It's good to know some of my wealthier sims who have too much money, as birthdays, weddings, and other various things usually result in a nice payday.

One thing you should keep in mind is that rich stay that way because they are CAREFUL with their money! Just because you can buy that thing, doesn't mean you need to buy that thing, to twist an axiom, slightly. I have the Dad work. In my Cantrell family (the one I created for the mini-series in my siggie) Joseph got his wealth by being a Shipping Magnet. (Since it's Science Fiction, he owned Shipping Lanes in space, making his purchases to the rights further out than anyone thought they'd be.) In my game there is no such career, so in times past I've put him in the business career. This time around, for something a little new and different, I've made him a Critic. It's really the first time I've played this career. After two iterations of this game with him being in business, this is a refreshing change. I went ahead and had him hire a Butler, who does way too little for the pay and the nice accommodations provided, I must say. The point is, it doesn't have to be boring to play. Think of the vacations you can have your Sims go on. If money isn't an 'object', so much more is available. Have fun!

Thanks for all the ideas guys. I just had all my rich sims quit their jobs and I'm enjoying playing with them a lot :)

I play most of my Sims as "rich" Sims simply because it's easier to for me to decorate their houses after I have already played them or placed them. Sometimes, I adjust their household funds just to build and then put the funds back to what they were beforehand. It's hard enough for me to save up for things in real life... It's even harder for me to do it in the game. For my main family, I made them purchase a photo studio so that way I can transfer money back and forth. Promotions and investments mean little when their funds are maxed out!!! As far as Sim attitudes, most of my Sims aren't snobby or materialistic, however I have a few who are. I play my main Sim Étienne as a Good Sim, so he donates his simoleons too.
