How do you play rotationally?

I've seen this and decided a might have a townie save where I follow these rules ish, mostly for when I'm bored with my main save like now ? iv got a spare save where I'm slowly makeovering all the townies so might use that. I know that's a lot of households lol but seems fun to try and then I at least have played each household once. I dont have all the packs so don't have every single household ever created to play

If I do that tho I might play on short lifespan in that save

Do you have aging on? Aging on for active housheold only (long). Off for unplayed, will turn it on when I feel they're falling behind.

Do you have story progression on? I tried it on, but for now it's off. May turn it on for a while if I want to spice things up.

Do you play rotationally with your sims or maxis ones? Mostly my own, but also Maxis sometimes.

How many households do you play at one time? 30-40? I enjoy a big rotation.

Just how do you do it basically lol The main difference you'll find is that some do scheduled rotation and others do irregular (me). I play whoever long I want and however I want. I like to keep family friends etc. aging in a way that it makes sense, so I age up sims when needed.

I do scheduled rotations, but once in game, time played can vary and is sometimes more of a check in. Aging is on, and long, story progression is off for my main families and on with some omissions for the rest of them. Most of my sims are my own but some started as pre-mades though legacy play has advanced the families so that I'm not sure that they are still countable as pre-mades. I play 25 games, 3 families each = 75 families and with time they are connected in one way or another within each save. I don't enjoy a single game with too many rotating families in it as I am not an aging off or aging when needed player. Prefer to spend a bit of time on the NPCs in each game. Don't usually play them but need to adjust them to the game they are in as each save I play has it's own special theme.

I only play my sims though they do interact with pre made families.

I have anywhere from 8 to 27 households depending on the load

Most of my settings are set to allow time at each rotation. I don't want one dying if i get hooked on one family for awhile. I don't always want to be in winter or summer with certain families as I rotate.
I'll rotate 3 households in one gaming session or I could stay with one family for 3 real weeks. Because I don't rotate on a schedule I make sure my sims are alive to return to and age manually. I never age pre made past adult because I like the familiarity of them so they rarely if ever age. I'll age the kids they have if I say yes have a baby when the phone call prompt comes in and that's usually because I need a new pre made and keeps me from having to actually play as that family. I tend to say yes to the Goth family to add new faces to pre mades.

I don't play until they die I play until I'm bored with a family. I save them into my library for later use or use in another load or evict them into townie mode depending.

Seasons 2 weeks, aging on normal. I play each house for about 2 weeks. Usually play toddlers & kids just till they’ve maxed skills or made aspiration. Takes about a month to go all the way around all the worlds.

11 Households currently. I started with all the premade teen households, played the teens as YAs through uni and now some of them are married to each other or sims they met later.

I play each for 1 week, changing just after 2am Mondays. It is timed so if my sims are nominated for a Starlight Accolade, they can attend that, and any holiday that might be happening is over at 2am so it’s a good time to change households.

Aging is on (normal lifespan) for current household only except for the first week of my rotation where I turn aging on for unplayed households. So everyone ages just one week, in sync with my sims. I also turn on Neighborhood Stories during this week (and it’s only set up for unplayed households).

I play with 7-day seasons and at the beginning of the rotation I use the seasons.advance_season cheat until they are in the season I left them in. This way they do not skip or repeat seasons or holidays.

I rarely turn aging on. I'm too attached to my sims. The households I control, if a sim dies I more often than not go back to the last save point, and I don't mind the lost gameplay nearly as much as I do losing a beloved sim. I'm a sentimental softie.

I will start with a plan to stay a full sim week but it never lasts long. I jump all around as I feel I need to keep things in order. That said in my main save I left the lead character unattended for a couple of days and I came back to a surprise plot twist. That act of going off script was a pleasant surprise so I decided to keep it and see where it led.

Lifespan is irrelevant in my game.

I play with full 28 day seasons. I keep meaning to check MCCC to see what options I have for making them longer. With aging off I'd entertain the idea of realistic 90 day seasons. Entertain the idea, I'm not saying I would actually do it.?

ETA: I forgot the number of households. Most games around 5. My main save is currently 6 and will likely grow from there. How many more? I'm open to whatever the flow and vibe of the story and my itch to create new characters leads to. The skies the limit at this point I suppose.

Just how do you do it basically? Sometimes I just do random rotations, but in my current game I am rotating alphabetically every 4 days. This way I will know who to play next and when I get to the end of the sim year I will play my Winter-played households through Spring so that the sims I played last Spring will then get played during Summer and so on down the line.
