it seems just having high level in whatever their skill is ensures they'll do pretty well
also, as for meeting professors, i tend to send my student sims to their uni's commons (and sometimes the competing uni's commons, as well) and the professors tend to wind up at those, especially on cram session day the night before an exam.
just know, professors from both universities will show up at either commons, so you'll want to make sure you ask them what their job is so they tell you which school they work for (but even those at the competing school seem to know your sim's grades. somehow)
there are 4 premade sims that come with the pack that usually show up as professors: jing fen, lana mckennon, serena bhamra, thomas jabari
but the game can, and will, also make other professors after a while
i have a habit of having my sims start their terms on fridays, so they have the whole weekend before their first class on monday. that weekend is spent working on presentations and term papers for the classes that have them (those then get turned in first thing monday) so they'll be out of the way, and doing all the initial homework for each class, plus focusing on whatever skills they may need for the classes. they also get to know the dormmates, scope out what organizations they may want to join and so on.
those two free days of early prep time help so, so much with the upcoming week...
Thank you for very handy information. I actually nearly live in students common but there were only other sims doing homework in my game. I didn't know the professors will be shown up. My sim got a degree in Biology today, I will have a look if there will be a new professor after choosing a new degree.

My other sim had C although his skills were all 10 and did homework, presentation board as excellent quality and term paper as outstanding but he got C.
