How long we can stay offline?

this isn't only for people with Internet problems but people who also like to wait for mods to be updated, prefers offline and less background processes..etc

I'd suggest everyone leave feedback on that ^ EA answers thread that we'd like the intended design to be reverted back to allowing us to start up the game in offline mode! If enough people ask politely they might listen to us. :)

Have clicked "Me Too." There's nothing about normal gameplay which should require internet, unless you're on the Gallery.

I did not read all replies, but I do always play offline and it's driving me nuts that the app will crash after maybe 60 minutes, and even worse need to show me 2 popups that takes a while to load. I chose to play offline so why should I worry if the app can't connect? Anyway, un less I click to many times while the app popups freeze my game (if so my game will crash), I can just ignore the notification and play offline for hours. Normally the game will work fine, sometimes not.

Few days ago we had a thunderstorm and I lost internet connection in general. I was convinced it was the thunderstorm that had caused some trouble, somewhere. At least my PC told me the connection was broken (not the app, it was already given up). Then by chance I opened to see if the EA app was still running in the task manager. It did, and when I closed it there, my internet connection returned, despite the thunder still rolling over my town. Freaky stuff, this app, telling me it has lost contact and then it turns out the loss was caused by the app probably trying too hard to reconnect...

I much prefer the old Origin. never had problems with it, and I never use the online features anyway.

Yesterday I went to mom's house due to bad weather, and I started up the app, went off line as they don't have internet. I kept game running in car on the way there. When I got there plugged in, and played for about 4 hours then got notice of an error, due to no internet. I clicked ok, game kept running and I was able to play the whole time I was there about nine hours. So while it is annoying to get the pop up, it appears that you can play offline.

Edit: Steam is no better, you can't stop it from automatically updating your games unless you take it in offline mode and if a game does not automatically update but instead has an update queued and you're offline, you can't play it.

We've entered an era where folks want everyone to be online and I'm not sure why, there's no real benefit to it.

I am a mod and CC user, and I love them, but I understand that EA has absolutely no responsibility regarding mods and cc. I understand that people with weak internet or those who live in areas where the internet can be unreliable; I definitely see where you want to be able to play offline. However, if everyone puts in a bug report complaining that they want to play offline until their mods are updated, they will get absolutely zero attention from EA. So if you sign on to add your consternation with EA for not making it easier to play offline, don't use the I-want-to-wait-for-my-mods-to-be-updated complaint. It will get zero attention, and this problem will never get fixed. If you haven't tried it already, go into EA app settings (three lines in the top left corner), go into the Applications column, turn everything off there, and try to play offline. Mak sure you scroll to the bottom. If the app has no reason to do anything perhaps it will not require you to be online.

While this is good advice and having the app looking for updates may add to the frequency of the error pop up, it's not the problem.
It's the EA App in general. It worked just fine in offline mode until some point in late March when an update rendered offline mode useless.
It's absolutely by design.

Answers HQ is a joke purposefully designed to keep problems from gaining traction and getting noticed.
I have quit spending money on EA products (TS4) until something changes.
Let Maxis know that you will no longer buy their products due to the EA App client software.

Try starting the game after that error pops up and you will understand the problem. No internet. No game.

Oh I know, one time I shut off computer went to parents house and it wouldn't start before I knew this was a thing. That is when I discovered it. I was just letting anyone who might have this problem there is a way to play. Of course I realize that if you lose internet, or don't keep game running it is a problem. The only way I guess for us to protest is like as you say, quit spending money on the sims, but I am afraid there wouldn't be enough people who would do this.
