How Many Here Playing the TS4 Want to Play A Simulator?
This is not a thread about whether you love the TS4 or think TS2 or TS3 is better but a simple question.
I will give two examples that drive me nuts in how this game is no longer a life simulator and is not 'simulating' life.
1. When I first had my Sims order medication thru their pc I was just sitting there waiting for the Sim to do something. Like get off their duff walk to the pc and 'simulate' having to buy online. Nothing happened. I was sort of confused. This is the Sims, right or not? It sort of threw me for a loop because the med had magically appeared in their inventory but my Sim was downstairs, in the garden talking to someone. I was still waiting (as in the past simulators) for the Sim to get off their duff and walk upstairs to the pc.
2. I recently went ahead and bought the SP for the icecream maker and the new hair and clothes. Yes, It should have been about mixers and toaster ovens etc. But I wanted that ice cream maker. I was sitting here after the Sim created a pint of icecream...what no cones? Can't sell them either, but anyway I looked at the options on the object to add garnish and or toppings. Ooh, let's add some garnish. I kept sitting here waiting for my Sim to get off it's duff and walk over to finish the ice cream to add a topping and garnish. What? Is this one of those hamburger games? One of those serves drinks at the beach games? My Sim didn't do anything. I clicked add garnish/add topping but they are still not getting up to go do that.
I finally saw the topping had magically appeared. :o :s
You know what I thought then as I sat here astounded that this was just a click thing and no longer a simulator? I thought about all those silly games I have played like Dinner Dash, Dinner Mania, Hospital Hustle, Beach Party Diner or something, where when you 'sim' goes to get things to take to their customers you don't see an animation to add the toppings done by the 'sim' but you do it yourself by clicking the burger meat, the lettuce etc.
Those games never simulate when you add the toppings to the food.
I have one question, o.k. two. Is this a Simulator and or is this a different genre now?
And which do you prefer and if you do prefer the Sim not have to actually walk and do something and simulate it, then why are you playing a supposedly life simulator?
ETA: If you like you can post some other things the game fails to simulate that threw you for a loop and made you wonder what were you playing.
