I myself am an elder, In real life. I like to think I can stay young but that is a myth. Anyway I was just wondering how you all play elders. I have some that I play. They have grandchildren that they see quite often. They live in the house across the street from one of their children the others I have live in the different towns. To get them all together I use clubs and have them all be members of the club. Anyway I also have some young and older sims living together in a monastery. They are all male and live like monks. They garden and they sell what they make from the woodworking table and they also own some businesses in town. The elders are kind of the matriarchs of the family and they have various tasks. I am thinking of doing a Nunnery also. I would really love to see a pack just for elders. I would love a gambling pack and a cruise pack, as I use the camping and jungle pack quite often for the elders to go away. I would also love an amusement park pack so they could take the grands. They do movies and bowling. I put about 3 elder families in my towns. I also try to make assisted living apartments and larger houses for them so they can scale down and move to a smaller residence and let the children have the bigger house as the families grow. I also have one older family that still has their adult son living in the house with them. There is a single lady that has a few cats. Another gentleman has a few dogs. One is homeless and lives in a tent. So I try to play with the families as best I can with what we have now. I am hoping that there will be more things for the elders to do when we get seasons. I do play with aging off as much as I can until I think it reasonable to turn it back on. Most of the elders are sims I have aged up in previous games that I put on the gallery. I sometimes just take them into cas and change their appearance to look older. I fall for these sims and just cant bear to part with them until I run out of ideas to play them. So maybe some of yours will have me playing them a whole lot longer. Besides I am curious.

Game play for elders is really lacking. I do have an assisted living facility. I have a few games in the gathering room like darts and Don't Wake the Llama, and a piano. Outback there's horseshoes and a grill. I do not shy away from mods so I downloaded a gambling mod that uses the card table, a mod called go explore that allows sims to take classes and do temp work, and more fun stuff. They act as rabbit holes but you get paid to do the temp work, more fun stuff includes hikes, going to the movies, going to a concert, visiting an art gallery etc. These things can be done by everyone (don't know about kids and gambling because I haven't tried) but it does a new element of things to do. My elder sims can retire but still do temp work (4 or 6 hours), and get out the house and actually do something. Love the idea of doing a nunnery and monastery. Might have to add this to my towns.

I usually let them enjoy their hobbies and keep in touch with children, grandchildren, siblings and other relatives and friends. Some elders enjoy gardening and try to complete the gardening collection while some enjoy fishing and try to complete the fishing collection.Elders who are into cooking try to learn every recipe in the game while elders who are loving dogs try to teach the dog all the tricks in the game. Elders who continue their creative hobbies will have at least one of the art piece put in museums or one of their books put in the library. Elders who keep working will eventually retire and elders who are living with their children will take care of grandchildren.I play with many elders. When they are nearing their death, I make their hair white, add more wrinkles and change their walk style to sluggish. When sim becomes an elder, then I go to CAS and dress them differently and change their walk style to normal (which is different for elders).In short, elders in my game learn new skills, complete collections, try new things, keep in touch with children and take care of careers (if not retired) or grandchildren (if in the same household).

Where did you get the gambling mod? I am not adverse to modding my game if it would make playing more fun and relevant. Yes, I wish they would take all the groups and make a pack specifically for them. The only group not lacking seems to be the young adult group. But I guess the elders will have to just get by with what they have, The monastery is a lot of fun. I just have to redo a huge house so they all have their own room but the good thing is the house is sparsely furnished, so not a lot of decorating. They do show up at the nightclubs and such so it is sometimes funny. They also tend to flirt with each other and stuff so it is not really ideal but it gets the job done. They basically live off the land I wish there was wine making again that would help with playing them more realistically. I have the extensive gardens for them but have to put it on another lot, as the lots are so small. But the challenges make it worth the game play. Hope you do try the monastery, there are some real laughs with it, because of the way the game plays.

They do not hold jobs per say but do run a flea market and a shop to sell their wares otherwise I cant get them to make money without cheats. I do have to use cheats sometimes, but I call them in my mind donations. LOL I do have a dog that the monks care for and there is a boy that comes around all the time seems he does not have a place to be. I may try to incorporate him into the family and have him be like they are caring for this wayward child. I dont know I will have to see. it's just something that happened in the game, I can either make it a nice surprise or I can let it just end. I will have to see next time I play if he is still coming there often.

I do not shy away from mods so I downloaded a gambling mod that uses the card table, a mod called go explore that allows sims to take classes and do temp work, and more fun stuff. Thanks for sharing your play ideas for elders! Most of the elders in my game live with family and are currently helping raise several grandkids. Also have a retirement home in my game, but I haven’t played it much lately. I like the idea of using JA as a kewl vacation for elders after they retire. I don’t have that GP yet, but I’ll probably do that when I get it.

I usually let them enjoy their hobbies and keep in touch with children, grandchildren, siblings and other relatives and friends. Some elders enjoy gardening and try to complete the gardening collection while some enjoy fishing and try to complete the fishing collection.
Elders who are into cooking try to learn every recipe in the game while elders who are loving dogs try to teach the dog all the tricks in the game. Elders who continue their creative hobbies will have at least one of the art piece put in museums or one of their books put in the library. Elders who keep working will eventually retire and elders who are living with their children will take care of grandchildren.

Where did you get the gambling mod? I am not adverse to modding my game if it would make playing more fun and relevant. Yes, I wish they would take all the groups and make a pack specifically for them. The only group not lacking seems to be the young adult group. I think that most do not play elders because there is a lack of things to do with them. I really wish there was more for them and that the game would actually have things just for them.

Right now, all of my single and widower sims are in a club I call "The Silver Foxes." They flirt and drink and hang out in pubs, and every time I see them pop up around town, they crack me up. Some elders also belong in clubs with their families, and hang with their grandkids. I've also made a retirement home too.

I would love to have a game pack that focused on middle aged and elder sims. Right now the adult life states blur together and there's nothing special about adults and elders. I really miss for the mid life crisis from sims 3 generations, and I'm pretty sure I'd give up my first born son if I could get more receding hairlines, a true white swatch for hair, and some clothes that don't look like they belong on instagram models for my elders. I'd love to see special socials too. Like worrying about the weather to their grown kids, special grandchildren interactions, and different aspirations. Unfortunately, I'm aware I'm in the minority, so I expect the game to continue to focus on younger life states.

I keep mine in family and try to make them as happy as I can. I like them to be perfect grandparents. I never had that in the real so I make sure my simmies have it :D
