- BlueSeaWavesSeasoned AceYou can learn cooking from this?my sims learned cooking by actually cooking, I only let them watch news, children and a little bit of romance/action. They don’t use it all the time though, probably 1-2 hrs a day. When they do watch it, it’s the adults who get bored of watching a kids channel. I just keep a tv in the house to add to the living room
- I think that's the closest to how it works in my game. I play with free will off, so I do not have to hide the TV from my sims. I buy them one when they can afford it and then more or less forget that thing exists. Sometimes they have family movie nights or maybe I make them watch the news for whatever reason. But that's rare.
They have computers, consoles games and the 3-d-gaming mat, so they do not miss out in the fun department. - SimsFan19922015Seasoned NewcomerMy current sim doesn’t have a TV but I do let some of my families have them. I like letting families watch films together or have sims watch the cooking channel. I feel like a hypocrite if I don’t let my sims have a TV because I love watching TV in real life but I don’t want my sims to watch it constantly.
- 5782341b77vlNew SpectatorThat is the FIRST thing that I delete in a premade house! I will give them a stereo instead to fill the "Fun" needs. I will make them skills "the old fashioned" way - via skill books!
- My sims mostly use it while eating to learn to how to cook. They did just have a harvestfest party where they kept the fireplace channel on to add the the vibe of the party! Other than that, my sims typically only watch TV while eating.
- I don't let them watch it too often as it is kind of boring (for me at least) to just let them watch TV. But I do like to have family movie or video game nights sometimes.

How do you feel about your sims watching tv?
I caught my sim- even though he's an adult- watching a horror movie yesterday. (Sims of the Dead) He jumped a few times, but I didn't get that reaction on film.- My Sims watch TV all the time, sometimes multiple times a day. If their fun and hunger are low, I will always have them eat and watch TV at the same time. And I make a lot of couch potato Sims too, so there's that.
- I can't vote those options - as my sims all have a tv but only watch the exercise channel on their own as my sims are into fitness - unless they have to watch certain tv channels for their perks/whims etc and I usually have to make them do that. They seem to prefer books, chatting on the pc, dancing and listening to music, or anything to do with wellness or fitness on their own. Anything else I have to instruct them to do it - especially watch tv.
Visiting sims on the other hand instantly go to the tv. - I play with autonomy switched off, so I don't really have the issue with sims obsessing over tech.
My sims rarely watch television. I find that boring and unproductive, besides the cooking channel maybe (I really dislike building cooking skill this way though as it's too quick for me). I pretty much only send them to watch news or tv shows when both their hunger and fun hit the yellows and reds, that way they can quickly fix that by multitasking eating and watching.
However, the TV gets a lot of use for the console and movies. Ah, movies are a great thing! I don't know why, but there's just something about casual movie nights with family or friends, I love the title selection, I also love the little interactions like cuddling on the couch. The popcorn maker is also fun.
Way too many movies, not enough books sadly :D
