How to Create Sims Drama? (In Game)

Hi guys,

I decided to pick up the game again after a while and I wanted to try and play some houses that aren't my usual type of houses. I wanted something like Bob and Eliza, in which their story says that they are struggling to keep their marriage together. I wanted to try and play a couple like that, to create some drama between sims and work to improve things.

However, even with completely opposing traits, and autonomy turned on, nothing happens except friendly interactions raising their friendship bar to the maximum. Even when I try and prompt it with one mean interaction, it goes back to being friendly almost immediately. To test this out, I made a totally blank slate household and tried to get two sims to get into any sort of fight, and they just wouldn't do it.

And to specify, I don't want to always have to click mean interactions and make the fight myself. It'd be great if they had random interactions throughout the day lowering their romance or friendship levels. I'd really love some drama in my life simulation game that comes naturally, like it does in Tomodachi Life.

Is this even possible? How on earth do I do this? Has anybody done this in their game?

  • If you have City Living, I recommend adding the Mean Vibes lot trait to the residential lot. Your sims will start throwing out mean interactions with each other! I add it to my "seedier" bars for a little excitement. Likewise with the romantic lot trait

    The correct answer.
  • I do have a household called Deviant in which I like to test all the deaths in the game.
  • I found that lot traits can make things exciting. I'm currently playing a household of 8 and they have a variety of traits and personalities. Without lot traits, they still live relatively harmoniously and I find that kind of boring. I added Cursed,Volcanic Activity, and Mean lot traits and now it's a nonstop drama fest. Cursed lots will cause fires just about every time they cook, Volcanic Activity usually means a lava rock will hit the house while a kitchen fire is going on, and the mean traits will make even the nicest sims wake up in a bad mood. If they're tense after the fire they're not likely to be in a good mood again for a while.

Wow. At least the lot traits are doing something. I never get much satisfaction out of them, but then again I try to choose traits to help my Sims succeed. Maybe that's my problem. LOL
  • I've never been a fan of drama in my game so I made Bob and Eliza sort their issues out.

I replaced them for the version off the gallery that included Iggy. I like to think that having a child brought them closer together and repaired their relationship. They even had a second child, a little girl that they named Cherry and they are still are happily together in Willow Creek.
  • If you want them to have drama you give it to them. It wouldn’t be a sims game to me without micromanaging them. Most of the time I enjoy the peaceful and loving atmosphere my sims have around each other, and love some of the cute little interactions they have. I would find it a struggle to have to keep repairing relationships. So, when I want drama, I give it to them!
  • I always love my Cinderella household a Drama. Cinderella is good, neat & handy. Her Step-Mother is Mean, Evil, Slob & Snob. Her Step-Sister, Drusilla is Mean, Slob & Snob. And her poor other Step-Sister, Anatasia is Clumsy & Slob.
  • Give them some negative traits. I have mean, evil and erratic sims that are always starting something on their own. Arguing, insulting. One sims family the wife is erratic and she is always starting something with her husband and I find it hard to keep the relationship from plummeting.

Also if you have snowy escape, the lifestyle workaholic causes a lot of problems for the entire family, they don't like being neglected.
  • You can use the club system for some drama. I have different clubs set up to do different things. In some of my dive bars, I set the lot traits to be mean vibes and have a club that gathers there and is set to drink and fight. It's pretty funny when I go there with other sims and that club is there fighting everyone. I have a mean girls club that is similar, except they just do mean interactions and meet at shopping centers. I have two clubs of bullies, both children and teens who pick on people at parks. I have a nerds club who do homework at the park and the bullies especially target. I have a club of geeks who hang out at the comics shop and dive bars who are enemies of the bro club who also meets at the dive bars and picks on the geeks.

I play the whole town so these are all my sims in some way and I get to play the meanies and the ones getting picked on. It's a lot of fun playing, but even when I'm not, it's super awesome to see this stuff happening in the background.
