How to find out where NPC sims live ?

Is urns spawning at the house in the vanilla game or do you need a mod for it to work? Because I once saw it in a youtube video that two urns were at the front door, but when I tried to look for the urn of a dead sim in my own game, nothing was there. If it's an MCCC thing, is it a default setting? Because back when I couldn't find an urn, I already had it installed. I recently had a sim die in my save, so I'm gonna look at her house next time to see if something's there (fortunately the house isn't too big).
