That's weird. I've never seen a setting like that and it's highly unlikely I accidentally deactivated it, since I really like the idea of getting the urns of sims who died off-screen. Now I had to summon the ghost through the mailbox, add her to the current household and remove her again so she's in manage worlds under my households, just so she doesn't get culled by the game.
