How To Install The Sims 4 In A New Computer?

I know it does as I had to research it on my sister's PC when it couldn't run Sims 3.
The problem was a message upon running Sims 3, fresh installation, with only WA and Ambitions. "EA registration server unreachable". Something like that. And it never goes away. For days.

Had to contact EA live chat for that, the first thing the said was the thing I'd never do nor suggest to anyone - manual unistall of all Sims 3 content which included removing all corespondent registry keys through regedit, one by one. Then redownloading/reinstalling the whole thing from scratch.
I still did the registry "cleaning", I thought the guy knows what he's talking about.
As you may guess, that didn't help at all.

Wasn't lazy so I tried both download and copy Sims 3 from my own machine, Origin recreated missing keys in both situations.
But still no dice.

Then they said use CCleaner (for god's sakes...) and I can't even remember all silly things they suggested. In the end they even killed the game and EP keys and gave me a brand new ones.
Guess what? That didn't help too.

What solved the issue?
Uninstalling every single EA game that existed on that PC, then installing (but this time definetly just copying and verifying from HDD) only Sims 3 and it's expansions.
The problem was never Sims 3, but some other Origin game that messed something somewhere up, god knows what, but it prevented Sims 3 from working and generated the odd "server unreachable" error.
Oh, and I found it out myself. EA support never suggested that the cause might be another corrupt EA game and not Sims 3.

Found the actual error message:
Unable to connect to EA servers to Activate Sims 3. Please try again later.

If you see someone reporting this problem, the solution is as I said, uninstallation of all EA games on that machine not just the one that, apparently, per the message, cannot activate itself. Then reinstalling (or returning from backup) one by one.

Ah well, Origin is an odd piece of software.
It has a power to verify and repair files, but sometimes seems it's repair option isn't working well (remember odd issues with Sims 4 patches and **%THS*f* dialogues instead of actual words that couldn't be solved through it)?
I suspect that it can't detect and resolve bad registry key sometimes, but that's where actual uninstall through add/remove programs should be used.

Odd is right :o it actually makes me miss a game launcher user had far better control of installing material but my biggest complaint is how random origin updates for other games can break ours. Oh well

As I mentioned, Origin will verify files. But it won't just check installation files, it'll also check the registry too and add missing keys - these don't exist on a new machine.

Xeon (hyperthreaded to octacore)... What are you planning to do there, play three different Sims 4 games at the same time on virtual machines? :D
These CPUs are ment for servers (and workstations that can make use of it's specific architecture), not for games.

The GPU... Not sure how that went cheaper than a better nVidia GPU, maybe he got it somewhere for a halved price though:

Anyway, for what it is, it's okay machine, but is not gaming machine really. This xeon CPU is dirt cheap, but it's slow and games want speed.
However, if you're onto studying IT, or plan it, you'll adore that baby. I actually wonder if anyone, except you, plays Sims on Xeon processor. Wouldn't surprise if there is noone, which will make you unique simmer. :D

The actual bad news?
Windows 10 and it's directX 12 that is arriving in a couple of weeks.

As you know, okay, don't know but suspect ;), current operating systems and apps cannot use integrated graphics card and deticated one at the same time (apart from multi output display support). There are solutions to use two or more dedicated cards at the same time, but those have to be of the same manufacturer.
DirectX 12 which comes with win10 will be capable of using all GPUs in the machine at the same time regardless of the manufacturer. Won't go into more technicals as it's not the point here. The point is that Xeon CPU above doesn't have integrated Intel HD and with new windows you won't see any possible game performance boost. :(

It's not only for playing TS4 (which I can run at HIGHEST settings) I'm actually playing GTA V and it runs it REALLY well... o.O hahaha! xD

He actually had built another machine for me but wouldn't be able to have it until one month, it had only 8 GB RAM and 1 TB HDD Space... :tongue:

I can however change the Xeon later, right? But for now, it REALLY runs games PERFECTLY WELL! (I think it's because of the AMD card...).

The game is not even 2 years old and the PC version has A LOT of new features, having played the last gen version I was REALLY surprised with the ammount of new content they put in this version!

Gorgeous graphics, better FPS, new content and the Rockstar Editor make it worth the 60 bucks! :smiley:

Anyways, like I said, I can play it with good settings in my Xeon with my AMD graphics card, and I can play TS4 with MAXED OUT SETTINGS running perfectly smooth! Even smoother than I could in my last PC with mixed settings! ;)

You don't have to describe it to me, I have friends who bought it, saw it, got interested, I did. Still not paying the full price. :D

But I told you ages ago to sell those *censored* consoles you have on ebay or something and buy yourself a decent PC. Nothing beats PC when it comes to variety of quality games. And finally you bought one, can't wait till you see how many great "candy" on PC actually exist.

Joxer I had no issues reinstalling Sims 2, 3, and 4 on my upgraded pc - from Origin - my only issue was trying to install them from the disks that it claimed the code was used already - which were my codes. So I gave up trying to install from the disks and just reinstalled from Origin. Reinstalled smooth as silk onto all new everything. I am also running FX times 8 processor (8350) on an Asus mobo with a Asus Nvidia 980ti video card and right now just 8 gig of high speed gaming ram. I will be installing another 8 gigs eventually - lol. I have an SSD 500 gig main drive as well as a new 1 TB Seagate Barracuda slave drive. The only thing I transferred from my old drive was my save games and the whole Sims 3 store I had backed up on my desktop - I also have some blue ray disk backups of the Sims 3 store content as well - but transferred them through an external device that connects my old harddrive right to my new slave drive via the USB. I don't know what it is called but hubby is a pc tech and it is something he also uses to rescue content off of old drives for customers. It can also be used to transfer content from one drive to another - but I did not choose to move the games themselves like that - as I did it once before and had tons of issues with Sims 3 in particular and ended up having to uninstall/reinstall the whole thing anyway just last year. It is something to do with the anti-piracy protections built into Sims 3 in particular - not sure if they also exist in Sims 4 - but it was an issue in Sims 3. It was fine for a couple weeks - then I started getting issues. So to avoid the headache this go around I just installed everything proper. I just know back in December there was no issues reinstalling from disk - but now there are issues as Origin ended up making me reinstall the Sims 3 from my account - telling me my disk codes were already used. Which they technically were - as they were used by me - as my disks are original - all pre-order as the Sims 3 came out from day 1. But installing from Origin went fast. I installed all 21 Sims 3 disk in a little less than 3 hours. Sims 2 took only 12- 13 minutes and about the same for Sims 4. So I can't complain. The time we did the transfer (which like I said I ended up having to do the hardway eventually anyway) took the whole day for all the same installs.
