I like your idea about skating, but I agree with other people that it would kinda be a ripoff for just skateboarding unless they charged like $0.99. What I'm thinking a good idea would be is to add a bunch of things like skateboarding, scooters, bicycles, Surfing, jetskis, parachuting? What I'm thinking with skateboarding is that we'd get a premade skateboard lot plus the pieces to make our own skate park (ramps, halfpipes, etc.), skateboards, skate outfits plus accessories (knee/elbow pads, helmets, etc.), decor (posters), furniture (benches, etc.) a Skating Skill with new tricks/abilities unlocked as you improve. When you think about the programming involved with the interactions, skills etc. all that would probably be worth the $10 price.
