There are a number things that can be done, but what gets me is that they at least should not be limited like they have been. They need to be able to do more things other age groups can, such as gardening and taking care of pets (bathing and walking). I would consider this the first step; properly including children in new activities and giving them the functionality they should have from the beginning.
