I did dumpster diving 1,000 times to see the items

Okay so, I did a thing and made my sims dumpster dive around 1,000 times (yes, I counted) and kept all the items I found and collected them together to see the general range of items you can find from dumpsters. I love doing challenges where I need to furnish my whole home without using buy mode at all but I've struggled a lot to find especially kitchen counters and been wondering could I furnish a kids bedroom with dumpster items.

So, I did an experiment with 25 dumpsters and 8 sims in one lot. All the sims were freegans and had the collector bonus trait and I used only the "dive for deals" option. In the pictures you can see the results, there's everything I found - except dyes (I threw them away to create more trash, there were soo many of them) and upgrade parts. As you can see, I found e.g. 33 bikes, 11 fridges, 4 ovens, 26 beds, 4 computers, 18 TVs (I'm laughing how I got 7 of the framed TVs from the "Cozy Celebrations Event" that aren't even available yet lol),  17 bathtubs, 2 showers, 4 toilets, 3 normal counters and 8 islands. I didn't count how much money I found but the largest single amount I found was 248 simoleons.

I know there's other stuff you can find as well but I think this is pretty interesting from thousand dumpster dives. The small number of showers, toilets and kitchen counters is crazy. I also noted that I didn't find a single bookshelf, no skill items, and very few collectibles,

I did this for my own interest but thought to share the results in case someone else might be interested too 😄 I don't know if there are some factors that affect what type of items you find (the lot type? neighbourhood? world?), feel free to share if you have any insight on that.

if you play the 'broken' items into your household inventory in build mode you can sell them from there for the money they  are worth without replacing them :)

  • I use the dumpsters more often when doing some certain challenge

The only time i'll buy something is if it's hobbies related when my sim has enough simoleon

Things like beds, baths, showers etc i'll use them via dumpster

Since Enchanted By Nature (even if you're not in a fairy form) it makes things a little easier since we have the natural living skill

Instead of using the dumpster for some ingredients or collections i'll use the natural living skill to look for the collections so i can completely focus on finding furnitures when using the dumpster

I thought i was the only one doing this😅😆😂

  • i made this one last year and i even made a post asking to have a pack based on selling the furnitures (just don't mind the building and the trees though)

    i don't think i have this save anymore though😅😅

  • I think i want to do a challenge in which buying furniture in b.b isn't allowed

Meaning you have to search for one by using the dumpster and shows how much of a mess it is🤣🤣🤣👍

And now that i know how the retail works, i can sell them by owning the retail

The only time i will buy stuff is by placing one of the hobbies like the tablet one

Thankfully with the natural living skill you can search for the seeds with that skill so i can completely focus on finding furnitures when using the dumpster😄😄
