Ahaha! I remember being annoyed at auto-roof before I got the hang of them. Now I love that there is so much roof customization. It's actually much nicer than auto-roof.
Intersecting things is your friend. Don't be afraid to let the roof hang over on weird corners. You can always put a deck underneath it! (Just support it with pillars)
