- I don't find it fun to always have a lot of money, the struggle is fun
- Reddestiny9215 years agoLegendwhatever works for your game I tend to cheat money where it makes sense like an older character higher up in their career or just to have variety while some families are stuck at the bottom fun either way to me.
- I guess a little, but it is not like it matters. Just play however you like. I certainly understand why some cheats are just more trouble than they are worth.
I prefer to play the Sims like a sandbox, but I like to play through the RPG elements, too. - NateWhiplash5 years agoSeasoned AceI always use motherlode. I don't do storylines, and I don't want my Sims to have to work--I need them to be ready for whatever scenarios I have planned, and being at work would complicate that
- Babykittyjade5 years agoSeasoned AceSame, no working sims here. More than motherload I like the cheat money 9000 or whatever amount. It gives me control over the exact amount. And I can make them poor if needed for the storyline. I try hard not to cheat more than money so I only occasionally use cheat for traits or points I want because it would take too long trying to earn it. And I would never experience parenthood traits without cheating it because I don't have babies born in game nor age sims.
- GalacticGal5 years agoLegendI use mods. I also use the cheat freerealestate on. Makes sense if the backstory is they inherited the house. Or in the case of my Global Superstar, he had the house built. Or in the case of my ancestral game save, he built the house out of hewn logs, from trees he felled. The first lot was gifted to him from his father, and from there he managed to sell it back when he and his wife outgrew the one-room cabin style home — IE they had their first two kids. Then he purchased an additional 378 acres from his father, mortgaged it, his father-in-law holding the 'papers' on it, platted it out and sold lots to others, keeping what he needed for his own house, a tavern, an *Ordinary (*think Inn) and a Trading Post. Without a mod, money doesn't exactly change hands between two Sims, so I improvise. The man couldn't seem to stay planted in any one house for long, however. He left the little town New Market he built and moved further north, just a few short years later. From there he ended up removing, as the term was then, 300 miles Southwest from the Shenandoah Valley, VA. My Dad suffered from the Wanderlust, too. Gee, wonder if it's genetic? :open_mouth:
As for only ever using just one cheat, no it's not weird in the least. I started off in Sims2 and NEVER cheated, not even a little bit. I was such a purist, then. (And very afraid of Boolprop.) LOL Now, I'm no longer afraid of mods, cheats or much else. I used to think cheating was if you had to fill your Sims basic needs. Now, with a couple of clicks all is well. I guess at my advanced age I no longer have anything to prove. And it's not as if the cheat police will come and arrest me, right? LOL
Play the game the way it makes you happy. There's really no right or wrong way, after all. It's a SANDBOX. (Just don't throw the sand around, it can get into people's eyes.) :* - janyses5 years agoSeasoned Ace

So I play sims 'straight' and only use motherlode for cheats lol is it weird to only wanna cheat to have inifite money and never cheat for anything else?
No. Do whatever is fun for you. I only use the freerealestate cheat as a way for sims to get 'loans' for housing they can't afford. I just wish this was implemented into the game so they'd have a mortgage to pay it back.
Although I agree that having infinite money isn't fun (for me.) The struggle is the best part and the game starts getting boring when you can afford everything. - Simburian5 years agoSeasoned AceI now only use motherlode as I never can remember the names of the cheats. I've even spelt it motherload recently and wondered why the money didn't roll in!
I tend to move my Sims in, by one lot owner requesting a new family in his nearby houses, select one of my own library families and stick them in them. That doesn't cost anything either. - Chicklet453685 years agoSeasoned AceI only use 3 cheats in TS4, and then not all the time.
-
- MOO (for when I'm decorating)
- Motherlode (for my sims who are fabulously wealthy and I can't be bothered to play them as a working person)
- Freerealestate (only on some occasions .... that's for my sims who will actually be working, I will buy their house with the real estate cheat and furnish it with the $20,000 they get in CAS, once the $20,000 runs out, then they must actually make money to finish furnishing their house)

- I use quite a lot of cheats for all sorts of things
from debugging my trapped sims
to building cute houses
to freezing needs to get out of bed/food/toilet/work loop to do fun stuff
to creating ghost toddlers
but one i don't really use in ts4 is motherlode
why? cause its so freaking easy to get money in ts4 even if i played with 0 cheats
and there is hardly anything to use that money on unless you got big house and big bills
noticing this 100 times more since I'm playing ts3 (no cheats) to refresh memory and its such grind to get money to do anything in it even though the bills are silly low
i do think i prefer having to gain money though cause it gives me more reasons to keep my sims doing jobs and learning skills for the jobs
