I want Sorcerers. Witches are far too basic, Sorcerers are far more powerful.
My style is More Once Upon a Time, Fantasy meets Modern.
I want Magic to be handled with Style

Heart Rip - in a way it's sort of like Vampire's Mind Control. You force your hand into the chest of the victim and pluck the heart out like an apple on a tree. does it hurt? Very much! But now you wrest control over their heart. Your will, will overshadow theirs.

Wands are simply tools that will help so certain powerful spells don't drain you of your energy.

Once upon a time really is the worst show I've ever seen......... I hope they won't use that as their inspiration lol
Don't get me wrong the plot aggravated even me at some points, It went down hill after a few seasons. But I do love the characters, could be worse tho. I actually enjoyed the CGI through Seasons 1-4
My point is the Concept of Magic, Once Upon a Time had a better concept, than Harry Potter, More complex, and it seemed more natural and fluid. That's why I push it so hard.

I have stated several times what I'd like to see in a witch pack, now I'll do it the other way around and state what I don't want:
- Only good vs. evil witches like in TS2. As others have said, there should be several branches, and casting a spell from one branch shouldn't automatically reduce your power in other branches.
- A "witch form". The dark form for vampires makes sense, so does the human disguise for aliens (although I wish I could turn it off for some of them), but I really don't want to have to double-customise every single outfit for witches as well. If anything, give them one special outfit category for witch clothes, and that's it.
- Related to the above, if witches get a distinct outfit category, I don't want the game to force only one style on us like TS2 did with the stereotypical witch outfits. Not all witches are the same.
- Magic as a skill rather than a life state. I understand the thought behind this idea, but with sims constantly trying out new things autonomously, everyone would be a witch before you know it, and there would be no way to "unwitch" them. It annoys me when my sims acquire skills I don't want them to have, like a supposedly technophobe grandpa suddenly becoming an avid video gamer when I'm not looking.
- Magic based on emotions. If there are several branches, then yeah, this could be one of them, but please not all of them! I'm already having a hard time fulfilling my sims' emotional whims with emotions being so fickle and sims so unwilling to do what I tell them, I don't want to have to try seven times to get them to cast the right spell.
- Witches being shamed for what they are, like aliens. Of course, there could be a "Dislikes Magic" trait or something similar to make some sims averse to witches, but it shouldn't be the general attitude among non-witch sims. On the other hand, I also don't want this "positive discrimination" thing that is going on with vampires, with everyone wanting to research vampires on the computer all the time.
I agree how does Good = Light Magic, and Evil = Dark Magic?
A true evil Sorcerer would know how to utilize Love as a weapon.
and a Good Sorcerer would know how to use dark magic to help.
I hope Magic is the Life State, and if a Human does pick up a magical object it won't work the way it would for a Sorcerer.
except, Emotions, if done correctly. I don't want to see: If your Sad your Water Spells will be powerful, if your Angry Fire will be powerful. Or "Your sim can't perform Magic right now because they're too Sad/Angry" Like Since when?
I believe some emotions could absolutely grant Success and Power.
How I would do it:
Successful Emotions
Focused, Inspired, Energized, Confident
Fair Emotions
Fine, Happy
Distracted emotions - Sim is distracted, Success rates are 50/50
Flirty, Playful, Uncomfortable
Weakest - When It comes to Magic you have to Will it, If you're heart isn't in it, it won't happen. Sim can still cast the spell, but not effectively.
Sad, Embarrassed, Tense
Extremely Powerful, But Risky
Anger - have you ever acted out of rage? Sim is at their Most powerful, but also Most vulnerable. Mistakes will be made, and someone, especially the sim themselves, could get hurt.
I hated that all sims reacted to magic the same way, in the Sims 3, I remember how disturbed a Sim looked when a witch was placing a good luck charm on them.
Hoping for more traits, I think Sims who are Geeks, Bookworms, Adventurous, Brave, won't fear Life States, and may even want to befriend them.
