Interesting Cowplant fact I saw

A cowplant that produces seeds? That's new to me as well. Of course, I haven't really dove into the science and intricacies of cowplants.

same :D So now I have made a sim with high gardening, got a snapdragon and dragonfruit seed and planted it. Waiting patiently for it too grow LOL

Perhaps it is when you graft snapdragon and dragonfruit you get a plant that grows these (or maybe not)?

It kind of reminds me money trees in The Sims 3. It didn't grow fruit that could be replanted, but it did spawn a seed near it from time to time. I didn't find any other info about it while googling. Perhaps a SimGuru could provide us a hint or deny it...

There are interactions to pet it and to play with it... It dances when you leave music playing near it...

I think all plants produce sees nearby that if left on the ground will germinate into a new plant. The new seeds happen quite often in my game though I haven't seen it yet with cowplants as I don't grow them that often. I think the seeds dropping happens when you don't harvest the plants.

My Cow Plants have never produced seeds themselves. I have never seen a Harvest option in the menu when I click on them. But the spliced Snapdragon/Dragon Fruit plant does produce Cow Plant Berries, along with the other two items. When they tweaked the rareness of some produce spawning, it may have affected how many. That must be what they mean? It does sound like the actual "Cow Plant that will produce seeds..." from the text, tho, doesn't it?

If you haven't noticed, you can take those Cow Plant Berries, plant them, and as soon as it grows into a little "Calf" Plant, you can sell it for several hundred simoleons. It's a nice boost if you're poor at the time.

I haven't pursued getting Cow Plants as much as I used to before Cats and Dogs, so it is possible I just never ran across this feature.

I have never seen a cowplant in my game, but after this thread I NEEED to get one, I hope my bohemian sim with the trait ''greenthumb''(cc) will plant one soon <3

It's level 5 gardening and it's called grafting. I do it all the time. It's not bugged in my game. A player has to graft in order to complete the gardening aspiration. Some plants can only be obtained by grafting, patchy, buying lots of seed packets, the gallery or cheating. I prefer getting the rare plants myself through grafting.

Bird of Paradise (Rare) - Graft Tulip onto Chrysanthemum.
Bonsai Buds (Rare) - Graft Daisy onto Strawberry.
Bonsai Buds (Rare) - Graft Roses onto Grape.
Pomegranate (Rare) - Graft Cherry onto Apple.
Dragonfruit (Rare) - Graft Snapdragon onto Strawberry.
Cow Berry (Rare) - Graft Dragonfruit onto Snapdragon.
Orchid (Rare) - Graft Lily onto Snapdragon.
Death Flower (Rare) - Graft Pomegranate onto Orchid.

Edit: A Sim needs level 10 gardening to buy rare seed packs or you can cheat and use debug buy. Some seeds can be obtained at the City Living produce market and through purchasing gifts on the phone or computer. Some seeds can be caught while fishing and harvested at the Spice and Romance Festivals.

Edit 2: Cow plants do not produce cow berries. There are obtained though grafting, rare seed packets, fishing and sometimes Patchy.

Well I am sure gonna see if it works or not, thanks all for your replies, glad to see I am not the only one that thought it never happened before. I also read another page last night, where it said that kids should watch out for monsters when opening the toy boxes as something sinister could be lurking inside. Also I need to get grimmy so come to my house because the picture of him in the book he has a skeleton of a freezerbunny hanging off his side, wanna see if that is in there too LOL. I did not notice any of these when I first read the book many years ago cause it was basically the day I got the game.

edit to add, not had simming time yet today, so still waiting for plants to grow

Ooooh finally did the splicing, now to wait for a cowberry to harvest then plant it with lots of loves LOL. I will be over the moon if this actually works, if is not possible could a guru be so kind as to tell me I am wasting my time hahahahaha :D

I can confirm that Grimmy has the skeleton freezer bunny keychain on his belt. :smile:
