Interesting Geekcon experience

I just got the notification for Geekcon, thought about having my Sim go but since she had an audition that night, I didn't want to get too busy. Then her friend Vannessa Jeong invited her out to get T-Shirts at the festival so I changed my mind and had her go. When I got there, it was raining and I discovered that the electronics were ALL broken. I wonder if it's from the rain?

  • My Sim didn't have to miss anything important, so I sent him to Geekcon. It was raining, too, and such a waste. He was supposed to show his hacking abilities but all of the computers were broken. While it continued to rain, I could see no point in having him repair a computer just to have it break again, let alone risk him being electrocuted for the 'cause. The game should be programmed to bypass Geekcon in inclement weather.
  • Im surprised Geekcon isnt disabled in rain. The game should reschedule this. What a waste of a trip!
  • This is really my near-universal experience with GeekCon ever since I installed Seasons.

It had gotten to the point where I had decided to put a Dr June's Weather Control Device at the Karaoke Bar so I can change the weather to clear.
One funny thing about this is that I can then repair ONE computer, do the hackathon and sit there playing it afterwards, and even if my Sim has almost no Programming skill, they'll still win, because they're the only person to have done it, on account of all the other computers being broken.
Free Immersive Bend Computer for me!

Something else funny is that during a BLIZZARD of all things, the computers and gaming mats were all full functional.
So a light drizzle is enough for all the electronics to go kaput, but a howling flurry of snow is perfectly fine!
  • @Dannydanbo, I just had that experience with GeekCon yesterday, and I totally agree. I tracked down a mod that makes electronics work in the rain, but decided not to install it. I'd prefer to have one that makes it so it doesn't rain in San Myshuno during GeekCon...or even one that just cancels and reschedules it in the event of rain.
  • This is where a weather channel that actually functions would be useful. It would tell you in advance what the weather would be in a certain world and you wouldn't have a wasted trip!

I just pause the game as soon as I get the pop up about geekcon, and go into game options to disable rain. It’s annoying to have to do that but it works, just a matter of remembering to turn it back on after the event is over.
