I had this happen in one specific save (though I didn't test it in others after.
The same save had an issue with random townies showing up in the house until I locked the front door for everyone & just roamed around like it was a community lot (after the Island Living update). I'm guessing it might have something to do with that patch :(
But yeah, Invite In was supposed to (and did, before June) override the locked doors and let in Sims even if the door was locked for them :/
