Is anyone else irritated that 'Dine Out' is basically unplayable now!?

An issue that has been happening since 'Island Life' was released... whenever Sims go to a restaurant to eat, they keep having their food stolen by other Sims on the lot! This is seriously infuriating... it might be funny at first, but it gets highly annoying very fast. Also, I've noticed that Sims no longer drink their beverages during the meals either... so that's also upsetting.

Regardless, this essentially makes 'Dine Out' a useless pack... because the central feature is literally broken and unplayable. A pack I (and many others) paid $20 for... and yet, we can't even enjoy the main feature because it's broken.

Meanwhile, instead of fixing this bug (which has been brought up A LOT on the forums), EA decides to go with "rebranding" the game and creating blinding colors... while completely ignoring the fact that an entire game pack is broken... they didn't even bother to fix it in the recent patch, which means we *might* have to wait until August... and even then, there's still a chance they won't fix it by that time as well. This wouldn't be the first time they waited forever to fix a major issue. There have been other times.

Honestly, EA doesn't care... obviously. As long as they make money, they really couldn't care less how they screw over their fans or milk our wallets to death. The least they could (and should) do is listen to our issues and FIX them... instead of giving us things NOBODY ASKED FOR!

EDIT: So, after creating this thread, I learned of two other bugs that are currently in the game as well:
1) The bug that causes Sims to wear completely random and nonsensical accessories while wearing a towel at the spa has apparently returned.
2) The acting career won't work properly (tasks will not show up and can't be completed).

  • Eating out with my Sims is one of my favorite things to do in the franchise - except for The Sims 3 became its a rabbit hole AND if you want a true dining experience, you need to pay for an additional lot...

I am beyond irritated whenever I see any Sim (including the ones I’m playing), not eat or have their food swiped away by another.

Besides the obvious annoying bug is anyone else experiencing mccc exception errors while at restaurants in Sulani? I've tried two different Sulani themed restaurants now and both keep giving me errors. All my mods are up to date so I'm not sure what else it can be.

Theres handy mod (I think it's from Tmex) that basically will pop up in the middle of the screen replacing LE telling you what mod causing (it really does tell you which mods causing the LE) so maybe you can check it out.

Oh thanks. I'll have to download that. It's weird that it only seems to be restaurants in Sulani that is effected.
  • I think this bug is related to how 'friendly' the Islanders are. That entire concept needs to be adjusted. The fact they enter your home at any time with plates of food, or bowls of kava, then basically treat your house as if it's their own, has spilled over to include every lot regardless of which lot type it is. The Islanders raid fridges, 'borrow' boats, aqua zips and floaties, steal plates of food and take decor items and collectibles every chance they get. A few of them have gone as far as to follow my Sims into bathrooms and stand there talking to my Sim while he/she is showering, bathing or using the toilet. I'm not against a neighborly atmosphere, but these Islanders are a bit much. I now use the 'Private Dwelling' lot trait just to get some peace and quiet. But the fact the restaurants are being affected now really upsets me. Restaurants are a very important part of how I play the game, and this bug has ruined it for me.
  • I must not have sent my Sims to any restaurants since I installed IL, or the new patch, or whatever caused the bug lol!

I do encounter this at my Sims' home though - Usually when I send someone to cook a meal, they will grab a serving for themselves once prepared. Now, they either do not grab a serving at all (and sometimes go for leftovers in the fridge... after cooking...) or they grab a serving and just set it down and another family member comes and picks it up to eat. So I imagine that's what's happening in restaurants too... That's pretty frustrating. It's easy to control if I catch it, but in a household where I can control everyone... not the case on a commercial lot. Hopefully this gets patched soon :(

I don't think, as many have already stated, that the marketing team took away any bug-fixing resources. We just see that new shiny thing they presented to us and wonder why it's not something that affects our gameplay directly. I'm hopeful it will be fixed soon since @SimGuruNick tweeted about it.
  • I've always found Dine Out unplayable, even before this bug occurred simply because of the musical chairs Sims play. A shame really because the concept of the pack is great and I love restaurants but if Sims can't sit at peace, I don't want to go.

Bug fixes are not done by the people who handle promotional art.

There may be some overlap with the team who created Stories for CAS.

But I guarantee you both of those were already in development to some degree well before the "food stealer" bug occurred.

So get a grip on "instead of". That isn't how it works.

Also, it doesn't matter how many people report a bug on the Forums, because that isn't how one gets the information to the people who fix it. What to do instead is explained on the forums, however, as well as why it's there rather than here.

Maxis wants to make good games. EA wants to sell them. Your accusations are rude, and uncalled for.

Granted that may be the case, however the question begs to be answered why keep pushing or shoving packs out with multiple bugs knowing there will be bugs incoming when the new pack comes out and now you have multiple bugs that one has to fix even if it handled an different way. Some people do not care who responsible for what, they want an game that works and the bugs are fixed in an timely manner regardless if it is the Sims. If one has to delay the pack or packs until most of the bugs are quashed it will be better for all. Also, reflect on the product regardless of what each dept handles. It is not rude or uncalled to question the developer on when will all be addressed as they put out thier money and they want an product that lives up to what it supposed to do and not depend on mods to fix them.

I highly recommend looking into another pack you may not own at the moment... if you're looking to buy one now. 'Dine Out' is basically useless because of this bug... because it literally diminishes the central purpose of the game pack. I mean, there are several new items the pack comes with as well... but most of it wouldn't really fit anywhere but a restaurant anyway. So, yeah... I would recommend looking for another pack for right now.

Agreed. Do not buy Dine Out at this point in time. It’s core gameplay feature is more or less broken. You’d literally not be getting what you paid for.

Arguable if it's even worth buying the base game at this point, too, with simulation lag still rampant and ruining the game experience.

EA really needs some better QA. This kind of thing should not be acceptable, and it's everywhere in the game. Playing TS4 for only a short period of time guarantees you will run into some bugs, some of which prevent you from actually enjoying the game.

Arguable, yes. At least the BG still has some core features that work properly - though not many.

The food-stealing bug isn't necessarily tied to restaurants. I've noticed in my game that sims often finish cooking a meal then leave it and another sim moves in and takes it.

Oh, and I've seen sims leave showers in gyms wearing beekeeper hats and gloves!

It happens at bars too and nightclubs. Order a drink, wait for a drink, someone walks up to to bar steals my drink. .... Orders another drink. *cries inside*
  • Is why am not playing the sims 4 till they fix this mess. till then ill be at ts3 no stealing foods xD
