Is eco footprint actually working for anyone?

It's so buggy and doesn't make any sense, it goes from industrial to neutral in seconds then goes back to industrial again, especially if you travel to another neighborhood..

I started a new save when I got the expansion to make sure it has minimum bugs, but the eco footprint is so random and doesn't really work as advertised

I wont even mention how slow it made the game even on a clean new save, I loaded a big older save with Eco settings off and it was very smooth..

  • I've been able to keep the eco footprint in Sulani stable, by having the majority of lots be green lots. In Port Promise, I was able to keep it stable too. My sims could go anywhere they liked, the green bar stayed all the way solid green. Then autumn came. By the end of the first day of fall, the eco footprint went to neutral leaning green. I made the last two lots, green lots, and the eco footprint continues to drop! All 5 lots are green lots! Its only the morning of the fourth day of fall, and its completely neutral, about to start leaning to industrial! It seems that autumn itself, is an industrial season. Since Sulani foliage stays green year around, autumn and winter doesn't seem to affect the eco foot print like it does in Port Promise.

I struggle more than anything getting neighbors lots and community lots to change from neutral. My own household lot does pretty easily. Due to this particular issue my footprint bounces back and forth a lot too.

I have managed to get it to stay green for a while on the island in windenburg with a save but it’s just my sims house that’s green so not sure why it’s sticking but not complaining. But no I do not think it’s working as it should and it’s a bit frustrating to mess with.

Hmm.. I just managed to turn Del Sol industrial. Will see if it stays that way but so far so good.
  • I have a feeling none of us will ever know for sure if it's "working" because the game itself is extremely vague about how it's supposed to work and EA has wisely decided to remain silent and not answer any questions about how it's supposed to work. I've found I can usually get the meter to go green and mostly stay there if I remain only on the home lot and focus entirely on placing a ton of solar panels / windmills, but if I ever leave the lot, or switch to play a different household, or the season changes, it will often change back to neutral.

Some places are more likely to go green than others. I've had 2 different lots on the island in Windenburg not only go green but take the whole neighborhood with them -- the Villareals' house (despite the fireplace) and the small empty lot.
