Is Get famous worth getting? (& quirks question)

In your honest opinion, is get famous worth getting?

Also, I've realised that 2 of my sims need the ability to become famous but I'm worried about quirks. Do we know what the full list of quirks are and how they're triggered? because there's some I definately would NOT want.

Also, if I bought GF and my sims lived in a penthouse, would that prevent paparazzi/fans congregating outside?

I've decided I'm not getting it. From what I've heard about quirks and celebs randomly spawning (also not being able to turn off the reputation system - a system I actively don't want), coupled with the fact that the content I do like I can live without it would be more hassle than it's worth it seems.

There is an option to turn fame off for sims you do not want to become famous. It's easily turned back on if you decide otherwise later.
The Quirks aren't too bad, some of them are handy to have others are funny, there is a list ingame that tells you of all the quirks and what your sims will have to do in order to gain them, which makes it easy to avoid the ones you don't want, if you don't give your home lot the celebrity home trait not many if any sims will gather outside. There are always options.

    I appreciate your post :)

I've actually cut down my number of played households from 8 to 5, and one of the households I'm not playing anymore are the only sims I would make famous, so (at least for now) there's really no point in me purchasing the pack. It is good to know there are workarounds though, and I appreciate that aspects of gameplay aren't always as inconvenient as they appear; I thought lack of snow depth would be quite an issue for me but it turns out I don't even notice it.

Yeah I know what you mean, I usually jump off the deep end thinking certain things are going to hinder more than help, then once I have the content in had I realise they really do try to think of everything to give you as many options as possible.

Yeah absolutely. Even with packs/content/features I'm not interested in I appreciate the thought and work that went into making it possible.

I didn't think I'd end up having to recommend it as much as I'm about to but: absolutely, I think GF is highly worth getting. I personally enjoy it more than GT but I enjoy it for very similar reasons: in that it really affects so many different areas that it really adds a lot of fun to the game :) you can always check out LGR's review if you haven't already, I guess this one, even he seems to recommend :D it is just a whole lot of fun!
  • Definitely worth getting. It added so much to my gameplay. I'm having tons of fun with it and a lot of new ideas. There are some things I'd change (more residential lots in Del Sol Valley) but all in all it's a good pack. And it didn't crash my game like Seasons did so that's a plus ;)

Oh and FYI it's only 25 on cdkeys atm ;)

Must've changed quick, because I just checked and it says 28.99. CDKeys is constantly adjusting prices, unfortunately.

I got Get Famous today and I don't have any regrets. This EP is a lot of fun. I was really on the fence with it after the whole influencer garbage they dumped on it, but gladly the fame system is really in depth and I love the acting career. It does feel like a good Superstar successor. The only thing I'm really not happy about is the size of Del Sol Valley....but a side from that it does feel like a full EP.

If I'm being honest, I'm not a huge fan of Get Famous. I wish it wasn't just an acting branch. The Sims 3 Showtime was one of my favourite EP's of all time, because It wasn't limited to one branch. If Get Famous included a musician career, and / or Magician career, I would be much more happy.

Get Famous doesn't need a singing or musician career. If you have City Living you can use the singing skill, or any other instrument to get famous and register yourself as a self employed musician. Sure it doesn't exactly give you certain options Showtime had, but Get Famous isn't really a pack about performing. I wish it had bands though, but I think the pack does offer enough for the price point.
