Is it possible to have only toddlers in your household?

Hello, I'm enlisting help. My current family has a single mother and two daughters (toddlers). While I wasn't paying attention, the mother just died to heatstroke. I'm more than happy to roll with this, (Whoo! Spontaneous deaths!) but before the grim reaper finishes writing her off, I need to know if the toddlers will be taken away the second she dies or if I need to cheat-add the butler into the family to keep the game running. Anyone know?

Thanks!

Yes, they will be taken because they cannot stay in the house alone. Afterwards, you'll get a popup asking if you want to exit to the menu without saving. Something like that.

I don't know if it's possible to change the outcome once the last adult has already died, so give it a try and see what happens.

@IceyJ Great! Thank you for clarifying! I'll see if I can rescue them with the cheat >:D

EDIT: If anyone else is wondering, I did save the toddlers by shift-adding the butler into the family before the mother's portrait disappeared. After passing hands, the girls are now living with their unmarried aunt.
I love unplanned story bits! Ty again, Icey!
