- moppy14w3 years agoSeasoned AceI saw that there were issues making the interaction for Wedding Stories work when it came out. I understand that there have been some fixes since.
Wondering what I might expect and if those who have it would recommend WeddingStories for my current Sims to get hitched… - Hi @NRowe the short answer is yes. I'd wait for fixes to the bugs on the Laundry List if I were you, plus that worrying Save Code Error 0 bug that suddenly is affecting a lot more people.
Check answers.ea.com for current bug reports
I am also tracking MWS bugs in one place on this thread here https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/998021/bug-tracking-my-wedding-stories - I would recommend it, if you are willing to use a few mods to fix the most broken aspects and if you don't particularly care about things going totally smoothly at a wedding. With the fix mods it is not in any worse of a place than any other group activities already in the game. And, arguably, weddings are in a better place with the pack...because the guests actually SIT THE ____ DOWN and watch the ceremony.
I would not recommend it if you are not willing (or able) to use mods and you care about having things go very smoothly and always according to plan. (But arguably, I would not recommend The Sims 4 in the first place in that case...)
I expect some level of "herding cats" when I try to do things that involve unplayed Sims in the game, and I use mods, so I'm perfectly happy with the pack at this point. But I can see how someone else could be very, very frustrated with it.
The Save Code Error 0 bug is effecting people who haven't bought the pack, so I disagree with @mightysprite on having that be any factor in your decision. - That is the City Hall building where you can have your sims go to if they just want to elope, @rongtudjuuu.
It's a rabbit hole. If you pick the option to get married (during business hours) they will go inside, spend a little while inside, and then pop out, do a little celebration animation and be married. It also apparently has a public restroom that your sims can use. Which I thought was a cute touch.
It also has some bugs right now for some people where it simply doesn't work for eloping at all. I've read that the people who have the problem are particularly those who set their sims as "engaged" in CAS rather than proposing through gameplay.
For me, the only problem with it is sometimes the option to "get married" is selectable even after it is closed for the day, but selecting it doesn't actually do anything. It works fine for me during the actual hours it is open though. I modded it to extend it's business hours in my game so that the bug I do have isn't an issue anymore. - LatinaBunny3 years agoSeasoned AceYes, I heard it’s still broken unless you use mods which kind of fix some or most of the stuff.
If you are like me and dislike using any mods (or if you’re a console player and can’t use mods), then I would suggest waiting for the upcoming patches.
I refuse to install more mods for everything, so I’m still waiting. I’ve enjoyed Sims 4 mostly mod-free (except the supernatural fairies mod) all of these years and I absolutely refuse to be forced to use a mod to fix stuff. (I don’t mind using cheats, but I hate using mods.)
Hopefully, with the vocal backlash, the company will be more motivated to fix their own pack that customers are paying for. - I’ve had 4 weddings so far and a few of the other new parties. I’ve have a different experience each time. I get hand-waving when asking the guests to take their seats, even with Zero’s mods installed. Maybe it’s because I haven’t been using an aisle since installing that. I manage to get mostly everyone seated in other ways (grouping them or just “chat here” commands). The toasts and eating food always work fine for me. I don’t bother with cake because personally I don’t even like cake (I had an ice cream cake at my wedding). I love the slow dancing but sometimes it’s too short with no dips. Maybe this is connected with dancing skill. Also, I held an outdoor wedding since the latest patch and it was only warm and it looked like my guests showed up in their hot weather outfits, which made me put Zero’s mod back in forcing them into formal wear.
When they made a pack relying on overriding sims’ autonomy, it was sort of asking for trouble. But even IRL I was told when planning my wedding, “just be prepared that something will go wrong. There’s always something. But if you let it go, you’ll still have a wonderful day.” - I waited until this first patch to go ahead and buy the pack, as I was more interested in the world/formal clothes than the gameplay, and outside of LittleMissSam's lot traits I don't like using mods.
I have a new legacy going and as soon as I got the pack my founder and her longtime boyfriend got engaged.
Scenario one: We held an engagement party at a local club with the bride's friends. After reading reams and reams of negative stuff about MWS I decided the key was to keep things SUPER simple. So for my engagement party the only options I chose were dancing and drinking.
Result one: Dancing worked fine. Prompting the group to get drinks DID NOT work. I had to instead use the old "Buy drinks for group" interaction.
Bridal Party: Bride asked her best friend to be maid of honor.
Scenario two: Bach party for groom and his friends. Options I chose were dancing, drinking, and I hired an entertainer. We met at a lounge.
Result two: Dancing worked, group drinking using the MWS prompt did not work again. Unlike last time, I couldn't find the "buy drinks for group" interaction. My entertainer showed up but did not play the piano.
Bridal Party: Groom asked his best friend to be flower pal.
Scenario three: The wedding. I kept it super simple. NO cake, my options were walk down aisle, exchange vows, first dance, wedding party dancing, and toasts. I did not get a bouquet. I chose a wedding venue I've used in the past that always worked really well (Love and Pumpkins by Moonlight Owl).
Results: Everyone showed up in their formal outfits. I used the please use your seats prompt and they all sat down. However, as noted, this is a very powerful prompt. I couldn't get the Maid of Honor or Flower Pal to walk down the aisle.
The couple was able to walk down the aisle and exchange vows, with periodic reactions from the audience.
After the ceremony itself I couldn't get the crowd to do anything. They didn't watch our first dance, they didn't dance. I was able to prompt the Flower Pal to give a toast, but no one watched. The groom periodically changed into his everyday clothes while I was trying to take pictures.
Long story short--this didn't work for me as well as the base game wedding events did, but this type of gameplay isn't super important to me. If it IS important to you, I'd say wait for more fixes or get mods. - elliebreton3 years agoLegend

I almost caved and bought it tonight as I'm feeling so miserable and really really want it, but I realized I just cannot bring myself to get it whilst unfixed. So I consoled myself with a chocolate Twirl and a can of Vimto instead. I'm a gal who lives on the edge :D - I think people are expecting more than they will be able to deliver.
Dine out is still quite broken for most players who don't use mods, and the reason is simple, the things they are trying to accomplish in Dine Out require unplayed sims to be very on-task. MWS takes that requirement even further.
If they haven't been able to fix Dine Out in all these years, I doubt they will be able to fix MWS either. That said, they should be able to at least iron out the things where it's broken because they left code unfinished and left debug code in. I'm just sayin'... keep your expectations within the realm of what history shows they can actually deliver. - LatinaBunny3 years agoSeasoned Ace

But now simmers are more aware of the brokenness and even the game changers are noticing, since this pack has a selling point and the brokenness of said selling point (that was marketed heavily) is much more obvious, and the company got more backlash and feedback this time around—which is good so they can learn from the feedback— so now I expect a bit more work on a pack’s issues this time around.
At the very least, the basics of the heavily marketed selling points should work, and the first patch does at least start to address some of those minor issues (like two aisles and party members wearing assigned party outfits, renew vows, etc).
We should not lay down and just take completely broken content like this, especially paid content. I am glad that even the YouTubers and sims community members were very vocal about their experiences this time around. We cannot let mods take care of every single broken paid content thing, NOPE.
No more excuses this time around, especially now they’re adding more coding stuff like story progression. If they got time for that, then they got the time (and motivation with the backlash and more vocal feedback) to fix a PAID pack that they advertised heavily and did some social activism for, etc.
Having (reasonable-levels) expectations for at least the selling point and basics of a paid pack to work should never be dismissed, and I’m glad that game changers/YouTubers are being vocal about this. This is good, and vocal fans shouldn’t be silenced for saying the truth about the broken paid features and for wanting better quality.
I loved this game since toddlers came around, and I would love to get this pack. I just… can’t feel good about buying a very broken pack. I want this pack so, so bad! But… the main coding of the selling point needs to be fixed.
I don’t mind a bit of chaos of weddings and parties (sims games are always full of chaos, lol!), but it looks like there were even minor things just not working at all (like party guests not dressing up and venue stuff, revows, etc), so I would like it if the team would step up to the plate and fix most of the stuff.
And the patch did show me the team is willing to do that. We just have to wait for more patches. :) *is hopeful and will wait for more patches*
