Is Stargazing Borked?

First my Sim's wife rolls the whim to stargaze with her husband. (I know, it's sweet, but they are still newlyweds.) But, once he got home from work, I couldn't find the interaction. I hovered over the whim and it said to find it under group actions. Say, what? Finally, I managed to have her stargaze. So, she lays down on the brick patio out back, by herself, pointing and talking to? The chickens? Maybe?

I activate her husband, who for some odd reason is still standing just outside of their security gate and have him click on his wife to 'stargaze with Kayleigh'. He walks through their house, out the back door, onto the patio, but does he lay down next to his wife? No. He decides to lay down on the patio on the other side of the patio table! They aren't upset with each other as far as I know. What is up with that?

Has anyone else experienced such an odd way stargaze in their game, or how long has it been borked? I haven't used it in quite some time. :open_mouth:

Please, and thank you, in advance.

  • I don't see the big deal. It's not like he laid on the other side of the patio table with another woman...Maybe he was just asserting his independence...you know,he doesn't really want to star gaze so it's "Yes, Dear, we can stargaze BUT I'm laying over here!"
  • It probably has to do with routing space. I just had some Sims stargaze the other night and they laid down in a big open area out on the front sidewalk. Make sure there's enough open space to have room all around both Sims when they're lying down. Any object in the vicinity could cause them to route away from each other.

If you do have the space then it might just be a routing fluke, especially if they were coming from different distances. I think sometimes when one Sim takes much longer than the other to get to the meeting spot it can trip up how the animation plays out.
  • I normally do stargazing via ask to stargaze interaction and the sims have always lied next to each other. You should take care where you do the interaction though because they lie down in the first spot where they can. I agree that your case sounds like some routing issues. Also I didn't know you could stargaze together through "stargaze with" while the other person is already stargazing.

I've noticed this same thing. It seems to be a pathing-AI problem, although I am a bit surprised that the game makes more than a cursory effort to route the sims together rather than its usual "OK, there's a small object in an otherwise wide-open area, guess I'd better put up the footprints-and-kapow thought bubble and cancel the interaction..."

I have noticed the routing is very strange. Very strange. Walk so many paces on this angle, turn and walk to the designated point. :open_mouth: It's totally weird.

ROFL are you taking Erik's side in this? He is almost always away from home. (Rock Star, Actor, Global Superstar.) This was a nice moment for them to 'cuddle' if you will. Guess he's just tired. LOL
