Is there a way to only load certain packs?

One thing I have noticed in the last year is my Sims 4 game loads slower and slower as I add more and more packs. I wish *(or hope) there is or was a way to only select certain packs to load and maybe the game would play much smoother and faster. I buy these packs and then shortly after find I NEVER go back and use them. They just take up game space and system resources. Not sure how they could reprogram the game to handle this idea but it would be a life saver. I hardly ever want to see vampires anymore or all that ecological stuff where people walk around with paper bags on their heads or vote for issues. I never have played that idea. Magic isn't something I've used much either after a short time using that pack.

  • You can disable packs from loading within the EA app, no mods needed.
You can find the steps on this website. It also generates the code with the numbers of the packs you want to disable by clicking on icons.

You can also find YouTube tutorials on how to do this if you find that more practical.

Very clear tutorial but still uses origin

Not a tutorial per se but in the first minutes you get to see how this works in the EA app

You can best start a new save with the limited packs.

Note : this simply disables them from loading. They will still be installed on your hard drive.

Interesting. I was wondering about that, myself. I just caved and purchased the new Stuff pack. But, I had the thought, since I now have no clue as to when I'll be getting that promised new gaming rig, what do I do about that new EP that was mentioned? I had to download the SP, myself, and it got me to thinking could I purchase it, and just not download it into the game?
  • Thank you. I am sure this will improve my game play and I won't miss the elements I never use.
  • Of course the downside is there will be some items in those packs I might want to use but they will not be available or some build things or decorative items, hair styles, or clothing. Oh well.

That was some of my concern, when they updated Sims3 over time. If we wanted to play that game, we were advised to select the packs we wanted to use. I basically use parts of every pack I own. :open_mouth: And I found certain interactions that came with endearing. Something I refused to play without. So far, I haven't disabled a single pack I've purchased. In contrast, I don't purchase packs I'm already iffy about, if you will. What I never had I won't miss . . .
  • My biggest problem is my computer hasn't gotten any younger but the game requires more power to handle all the processing and I am too cheap to cough up the money to buy something that can do the job. I may eventually just have to give in and buy something that doesn't date from 2010.
  • Wow. That was a great hack that improved my game significantly. Only problem. Now my game wants to redownload the packs I have disabled at load. And of course I can't use any of my saved games or they might become corrupted and unplayable. But sometimes starting new households is the best part of the game.

I hear you. I'm still so unhappy over the loss of my gaming rig. Hubby is aware it didn't have the power required; despite the fact it was a gaming rig. I was supposed to get a new one, last month. We'll see how long my wait is. (I really hope he isn't planning on it being a surprise for Christmas ---I so need it long before then.) We have another EP coming up. I've left kits I wanted, and only just got the new SP. But my loading time is a joke.
