@FFX2Paine506 I tried to put a bar in the museum but to make it work you have to change it to a bar or park etc. No one tended the bar and no one even went to it. I might try again and change it to park and put park things on the grounds outside. I am not sure if they will look at the paintings or not, Could try a Restaurant on top floor. I don't if that would work or not.
If I ever want to redo a lot, I just bulldoze it and start over instead of trying to work with it. Because without the title of museum, the paintings will just be decoration all over again.
But if you redo a lot and call it a museum, then the other things like a bar or Restaurant will not be used as such. At least I do not think so.- GinaMarieOynohs10 years agoRising Scout

What I was saying was, if I wanted to make a bar for example, I won't try to work off of a museum, because once I change museum to bar, then everything in the museum just comes decoration. "FFX2Paine506;14929661" wrote:

Yea I get that. I was just trying to add something to the museum that the sims can do there other then viewing things. But it does not work that way.- Cinderellimouse10 years agoSeasoned Ace

I have been checking out my EA-placed museums, and they just seem to have a few paintings and sculptures that you can "view". Is there some advantage to having them or visiting them? Has anyone done something to a museum to make it less of a waste of time?
I prefer using them as more of an art gallery. The idea is that I'll have a Sim who runs the gallery (a bit of imagination is required) and they'll hold art classes there (with GT club system), and my Sims will display their own art work in special exhibitions. I wish I could have other Sims buy the art without having to have it as a retail venue. I had an 'auction room' in my TS3 art gallery/museum.
At the moment the venue doesn't have much to offer. I might send my students or artists there and imagine they are doing a class project or gathering inspiration. I might add a barista bar and have a cafe on the site so sims can make more of a day of it.
I wish we had more features for this. Like if we had something similar to the TS3 sculpting skill and profession, so Sims could actually make sculptures to display. I would love something along the lines of World Adventures too, so a sim could be an archaeologist and go to dig sites and find ancient relics. There could be a profession for this. I think features like that would make museums more interesting and interactive. - Cinderellimouse10 years agoSeasoned Ace

Hi, sorry to self-promote, but I have a free bartender mod that might help. I made it because I want to be able to call bartenders and baristas to other venues without either having to pay them (if my sim is a visitor) or change the lot type. It's on Sims in the Woods if you would like it. I think it would be helpful if the developers changed this so we wouldn't have to pay for a service if our sim is not the owner of a lot. I wouldn't visit a museum and expect to pay $100 to hire a barista for their cafe in real life, it doesn't make sense in the sims. "IngeJones;891262" wrote:

Sims in the Painter aspiration have to view a certain number of paintings -- the museum's a good place to do that. I deleted the museum in Oasis Springs and upgraded the one in Willow Creek; when we got basements I added basement space with a music room and a science lab (element analyzer and the kids' science tables), and put a telescope and the Wishing Well and new fountain (from RGS) in the courtyard. It's also a good place to meet other Sims; I see a varied range of characters.- I usually delete mine but that photography idea sounds great @cameronw209 :O I'm going to try that! #shamelesslystealingideas

I stocked one of the museums withall(many) the collectables and am working on adding all the different paintings . That way I can save all the collections for future sims. I hate that when having finished a collection and I no longer play that family the collection is gone. This way different sims can contribute to the museum .
Now THAT is one amazing idea that never occurred to me, and actually is pretty much what real museums are for. I haven't been bothering with making collections, but this idea might just give me a reason to do so. How do you transfer the collection from belonging to your sim to belonging to the museum?
You just have your Sim visit the museum with the collectible in his/her inventory, and you can drag it from their inventory to the display case. I was doing something similar in a previous save, with all the various collectibles in a private museum for my alien club, but I got tired of that save. I may steal that idea myself; I have a basement room in the library that's unused so that might be a great spot for my collection room, and I usually have my teens do The Curator where they're collecting a lot of stuff so that would be a good place for them to add to the collection.- Once you've completed the Painter aspiration, you can try and replace all the in-game paintings with the ones your Sim creates instead.
Otherwise, the museums are mostly good for events and klepto-Sims. ;) - pipersfun210 years agoNew Ace

Made willow creek museum a club hangout for scientists and doctors. I placed a lab in the basement but kept the upper floors the same. refurbished the garden of that one with romantic garden stuff too. So it has the wishing well.
Turned the oasis springs one into a photography studio. Each floor contains photographs of each world taken by a sim who lives in that world.
Great idea!!! (runs off to make humming)
