- Anmirla7 years agoSeasoned AceUh, no. It is centered completely around raising and discipling children. The name is definitely not misleading. :D ;)
Should you decide "to have kids", I highly recommend it. It's a great pack. - paradiseplanet277 years agoSeasoned AceYou can apply character traits on your sims through cheats if you want that, but it really doesn't add much else if you never plan on Sim parenting.
- Tomsde7 years agoSeasoned VeteranI guess the build/buy modes items are more geared to family stuff and child/teen stuff mostly; though sometimes when I've wanted some house or other from the Gallery I've noticed it's in the uses stuff from these packs list--child/teen bedroom stuff I guess. Of course I'd have no use for anything in The Toddler Stuff, or Kid's Room Stuff--though there may be some things in the My First Pet Stuff pack that could be interesting.
- icemanfresh7 years agoLegendYeah, you probably won't get much out of it without kids. I can think of
- Table setting (although as of the latest versions, the placemats disappear once a sim places a dish on them
- Packing sack lunches, which can benefit adults (and is a helpful way to take out leftovers from restaurants)
- The usual BB and CAS stuff, since adults get a fair amount of stuff too, like the pajama pants and sweaters
- Swearing and farting (sims can even fart in the hot tub and the water actually bubbles)
Nothing to justify a $20 price tag, though - Tomsde7 years agoSeasoned VeteranI nite they fat of they eat certain foods, but don't cuss. I wonder what that sounds like in Simlish.
- I wouldn't recommend Parenthood without kids since everything is pretty much based around the entire concept of family and parenting. The new game play is for building parenting sills, the build/buy is mainly made of homey family items with a lot of kid/teen decor, and without the younger age groups you're missing out on a lot of CAS.
It's a great pack, but if you don't play with kids I'd find it a waste. - Every now and then, I'll make my single Sims start a family and once they do, I find Parenthood makes the whole child-raising process very entertaining.
That being said, as others have stated, if you're not interested in having your Sims raise children, the only real benefit you'll be getting from the pack is more interactions between the Sims and more realistic interactions (like tense Sims swearing) and more traits (that will have to be added in with cheats if you're playing young adult Sims or older) to customize their personalities.
Content from Parenthood still definitely shows up often in your game regardless of whether or not your Sim(s) has a family, but compared to the Sim(s) actually having a family, you'll find its effect on single Sims to be rather miniscule. - EgonVM7 years agoSeasoned AceAbout 80% of the content is about parenting, teens and family activities.
Some of the new objects with gameplay are doctor playset (can be used by children only. If they play lot with it, they'll get a postive moodlet when they become doctors/run a vet clinic), block building table (can be used by an adult, but great for families), family bulletin board (usually used to set curfew to teens, children, and toddlers), and private journals (can be used by an adult, helps to get rid of negative emotions faster).
The new skill is Parenting skill. Only young adults and older can learn it. That's it with the skills.
There are new relationship types with parents, siblings, and grandparents depending on how they treated them during the childhood. As these are only applied when teen becomes a young adult, it's again useless to you.
There is a new aspiration called Super Parent...
There are 10 new character value traits. Character values are values that toddlers, children, and teens have. These can be affected with parenting... If high enough, it can give a positive or negative trait once they become young adult. You can only get these by cheats then...
There are new interactions. For all ages, you can make sims fart, burp, and shout forbitten words (sims can alos shove each other). Sims can also help other sims fix negative relationship between them and set the tables. With new traits there are new chance cards, new mean socials and new helpful interactions (introduction that makes friends easily ect). While you may not experience teen mood swings, you may experience adult mood swings if they have uncontrolled emotions.
In short:
This game pack is all about parenting and as you do not play with families, so I do not recommend this game pack to you.
Unless you try out raising a family in the game (I always recommend trying different playstyles), this game pack doesn't have a lot for you.
I'd recommend seeing some videos about this game pack (most of them include family-play). Here are some videos under the spoiler:SpoilerTrailer:

In case if you want more videos, here's the search done for you. - LatinaBunny7 years agoSeasoned AceParenthood is about... parenthood, lol.
So, yeah, exactly what it says on the tin. No purpose of getting a parenting pack if there is no one doing any parenting. "Bearflex;c-16628940" wrote:

There are some nice Build/Buy catalong items like the kitchen set, and new combo tub/showers with shower curtains instead of a door, and some quite colorful ones. If you're a builder it's worth it just for those items, especially if it pops up on an Origin sale. For those who are family players it's pretty much a must have.
I think MFP got a bad rep because of the marketing and the addition of items that were obviously themed to go with Cats & Dogs. The small pets are actually a lot of fun, especially when you get postcards from their travels (I've been gradually working on the postcards collection with one of my families since that family is to complete as many collections as possible).
