Is this a bug? My pets won't breed (pair of cats and dogs)

Hi, all.

I've been trying to figure this out for a while now, and am growing frustrated. My sim has a dog and a cat. She recently moved in with another sim, who also has a cat and dog. I'm companions with my dog and good friends with my cat.

I've tried having them be nice/friendly to each other, encouraging to mate etc. Sometimes it's greyed out saying it takes a day...but then it's back within 1 sim minute. My sim also keeps getting sad moodlets about the mating not working. The cats and dogs both growl/hiss at each other with red slashes over their heads.

Please, does anyone have any advice? Or is this a bug?

    I dont think the cat and the dog can breed together but im having similiar problem with my cats. I keep trying and im starting to feel like the relationship must be higher, my cats simply wont mate with each other and thats the only thing i can think of =/

    Oh, I'm not trying to breed them together, I'm trying to breed a pair of dogs and a pair of cats.

    The pets have to like each other in order to mate. You could try instructing the dogs to be nice to each other to improve their relationship a few times before trying to mate them again. Sometimes that works.

    If they're hissing at one another they probably aren't friendly enough to mate successfully (not easily anyway)!

    UPDATE: Got it to work by saving family to gallery then evicting current family and deleting them. Laid down the house again (had saved it to gallery prior) and made a new save as. The animals now do the appropriate actions and are expecting. We'll see if they actually give birth.

    Both of my dogs, who were former strays, won't breed either. Every time I select "Encourage to Breed with..." it doesn't show the other dog, it shows random strays. I have told them to be nice to each other many times, but they still won't breed. They aren't fighting they just won't even start to breed. They are mixed breeds, but I didn't think that was a problem. What do I do?!

    Pets apparently won't mate if they don't like each other. I've tried the be nice to interaction, but it does not seem effective.

    Yup had to adopt another dog, Hydra wouldn't breed with any other male dogs I'm so happy now :p B)
