Island living vs snowy escape

To put it simply, no. There's nothing in Snowy Escape that's useful in other worlds and the "gameplay" is just watching your sim do a premade animation. In my opinion both are more like "world packs", you get a nice enough world to visit and some nice items but that's about it. If you're a storyteller you can make your own story and make it interesting but in reality it's just another pretty world with no depth.

I prefer Island Living personally despite it lacking in activities because I love Sulani and the island lifestyle in general.

Snowy Escape has more activities and it's fairly decent expansion by Sims 4 standards but also if you're looking for a lot in the pack then it's probably going to disappoint. Nothing is really as it seems from watching the trailer.

Skiing is pretty much just an skill based animation which I'm fine with but there's only so many times you can watch it before it gets old. Same for Snowboarding.

The mountain excursion is a timed event that has no freedom for the player to do anything other than what the game tells you to do.

Hiking is just another long animation that doesn't really allow for any freedom of choice once again. If you attempt to interact with anything along the way it cancels the hike. This could be a glitch but I'm not sure.

Lifestyles are interesting in a rather unimpressive way. They seem to do not much but make sims miserable.

As always the CAS/Build&Buy items are great. If you're a builder you will maybe like it for new items.

Sentiments are great but since they come with the base game they aren't really a good reason to buy the pack for.

Snowy Escape offers more activities for multiple sims to do together. I’m enjoying it quite a bit more than Island Living. I’ve played 10 of my 12 households since getting the pack and there are plenty of ways to make their experiences different. I think it offers a lot more gameplay than IL. IL is beautiful and I’m glad I have it, but SE fills me with more excitement.

Sound like I should wait for a big discount ... I do like Sulani just think it is a game pack !

Island Living is my favorite EP and so is Snowy Escape.

I prefer Sulani to Mt. Komorebi. It's more unique and immersive, and you can tell that they put more thought into it. They're both pretty boring, but Sulani is more uniquely boring.

As a pack, Snowy Escape offers more. I like taking my sims to the mountain to train in sports, which is something we've been seriously lacking in. There's stuff to keep you busy. I'm sure my opinion might change once the newness wears off, but since I like my sims engaging in sports and stuff, it has a leg up for me.

They are the same, but I remember I played Island Playing for a long time (3 weeks and a half) before I got bored, Snowy escape barely a week before I moved my Sims to other world.

Both packs pretty much like Store World that came for Sims 3, you get a new world, new premade with new gameplay objects (but not locked to the world it came from)

They feel like they fall into more or less in the same category as they don't really seem to have a lot of indoor activities is what it lacks, especially if you're wanting your sim to stay at home on their lot.

Probably just a slight step above Island Living with the lifestyles that offer gameplay that's not just tied to the world. I do like seeing sims hiking/jogging together just wish they could do it elsewhere as well.

Any noteworthy gameplay to the packs. :V I'd wait for a sale. The build/buy modes as well as CAS in these packs are aesthically pleasing and love them, but they still fall short of being a full EP like other EP's thus far in S4..

I consider them a pair. Twins if you will. Same formula, more or less, with an EP about a world. The transcendent features are lacking in both. Other worlds did not get swimmable water with IL and SE did not share snow depth, thundersnow weather, and arguably lifestyles.

Do not get me wrong. I like playing with lifestyles and think it has great potential as a feature, but it needs expanded. You can participate in the lifestyles everywhere, but more options would make sense in other places. For example, an adventurous lifestyle sees great benefits from a life in the SE world and the workaholic lifestyle benefits greatly from the new salaryman career. These lifestyles do not take as much advantage of other features as they should.

However, I like both SE and IL. I love the worlds, the BB, and most of the CAS. IL gave me some really nice off the grid play (though now it is completely intertwined with EL for me) and mermaids and SE gave me lifestyles and Japanese cultural details. Both are very important for my gameplay, so I enjoy them even if they could have been more.
