Keeping pets happy

Just a little tip.

For quite some time I was having trouble getting my Sims' dogs into the green zone - at best they would be "fine", and very rarely "happy".

I discovered quite by accident that if you regularly give them a "vet treat" (the red one that you can buy from the vending machine at the vet clinic), it is much, much easier to get them into the green zone and keep them there.

Plenty of you may have already known this, but it took me a while. :D I always buy a whole stack of the treats at once and keep them in my inventory. When my dog starts being fairly constantly in the white ("fine") again - or worse - I give them another treat. The effect lasts them for some days.

  • I only give them those wellness treats when they are sick. Otherwise my sims cook pet recipes for their pets and give them morsels from their plates.
  • Mine get full vet treatment if they are sick, they don't seem to need anything else for that. The vet treat gives them overall improved health, it seems. And that, added to all the other interaction and treats I provide them with keeps them in the green for a significant portion of the time.

In fact it's usually only when they get an actual illness (requiring vet treatment) that they ever go into the red now.
