Children can take medicine, they just can't take them if they aren't sick. But if they are, just buy some medicine from the computer or put one in their inventory and they can take it. Or they can also take a nap.
I tried it and it didn't work for me.
Anyway my point was that mom sims should act like moms and they DON'T. Why isn't there a grandma's chicken soup recipe in the sims 4? Why can't they check for fevers or even ask a sim child how they are feeling? They don't ask about symptoms or anything. The animations for half this stuff already exists for doctors anyway so there is no excuse at this point. It's sheer neglect for family players.
Grandma's soup didn't go much farther than the name though (and came in the second to last EP). You could make it even if you weren't not sick. You could eat Grandma's soup at a YA party if you felt like it. None of the Sims game have been much in-depth in that regard. At least in TS4, parents can give medicine, they can make a hot cup of tea for the sick teens. And if they have writing skill, they can make an excuse letter for their children.
Well, the soups cures sims of illnesses so I'd say it does the job perfectly. I really love the name because most families do have an old recipe they passed down. My point was that it was a nod to family and generational play which is something that is severely lacking in the sims 4.We can sit here and argue about which game did it better but I find that irrelevant because I expect more than this from the newest version of the game.
I have tried everything and have not seen the option to give a sick child medicine so if you could please explain how to do so in game I'd be grateful.
I think the grandma's soup was neat but it wasn't the end be all of family play in TS2 either, I sure wouldn't feel like adding grandma's soup would completely change TS4 family play. TS4 have some alternatives, perhaps with a bit less flavour (though the cup of tea is top notch too  ), I personally would like more content about the relations between grandparents/seniors and younger ones. I think it's something that has always been poor in Sims game, and I could certainly use a bit more flavour for when I play my elder Sims. But not only a grandma's soup, I want more !
To give a sick child medicine, you click on a computer, buy the medicine (children can do that too which got a bit of a negative feedback on this forum at some point), put it into the child's inventory (either directly, or by putting it into the world and having the children pick it) and when the child is sick, you can click on it in the inventory and the option is there to take it.
I tried this and it didn't work for me? Again, it's disappointing. I wish there was more motherly love animations like I described above. I find the idea of handing the child medicine to chug himself sort of takes me out of it and I probably wont bother anymore. Thanks anyways.
Illness have different phases with different symptoms. Perhaps your children wasn't sick enough or was already recovering ?
I think a generic interaction to give something to someone else would be a great addition. That's something I would use in so many different ways :)- MidnightAura869 years agoSeasoned AceI don't think the sims have ever "cared" when their children were sick to be fair. In the sims 2 there was comfort soup but parents wouldn't say roll a want to make it for their sick child, they may roll to learn how to make it but that's irrespective of their children.
If you don't have any sims with the family aspiration you can't make comfort soup. You can make a certain juice from the juicer that will cure sickness but again the parent won't roll for that, they will have to be told. Sims 2 parents can autonomously worry about their kids but I've never seen this happen whilst the child is ill.
With the sims 4 I've never been able to give a child medicine or indeed place it in their inventory. I do like parents being able to write their child a note for school, that's a nice touch. The last time I had a sick child in game they automatically stayed home from school which would have been nice of their parents weren't going to work. - Parents taking a day off to stay at home with their sick children sounds realistic to me :D
I liked the juicer too ! I think a Blender/Juicer would fit perfectly into a SP (or a Farm GP/EP), with a bunch of juice and soup recipes and some of them could cure sickness. "MidnightAura;15408562" wrote:

That's really odd, I've always been able to put medicine in children's inventories and have them take it. I can't recall offhand if they can order it themselves from a computer, but I usually have an adult buy about 50 of them at a time and put them in the fridge. When my Sim kids get sick, I just open the fridge and place one in their inventory and have them take it. It's always been this way in my game.- Luckylunayre9 years agoSeasoned AceOrange juice helps cure sicknesses and so do teas. There is also a special detox tea unlocked with high wellness.
The sickness system in Sims 3 and 4 are both complete jokes. - LatinaBunny9 years agoSeasoned Ace

That sounds like a bug? My children were able to take medicine in Sims 4.
Is the child displaying any sick symptoms (like spots, etc)?
ETA: I would love more affectionate concern and interactions for sick sims, too. "Zeldaboy180;15409129" wrote:

You're correct on that for sure. In Sims 2 sickness was still not acknowledged by family members, but at least you still had to be concerned about it. I liked how if you left it untreated and didn't let the Sim get any rest they could eventually die from it. It was a scary thing to have your whole family get sick while in the early days of a legacy challenge or an Apocalypse challenge. I really miss that aspect. In Sims 3 & 4 sickness is really nothing more than negative moodlets that go away on their own eventually if you ignore it. Just another example of how they completely eliminated almost every shred of difficulty after Sims 2.- Holy crud I thought this was the feedback section not the "lets make excuses for the sims 4" section.

Um...? Of course we should ask for improvements.
We're just stating that this is not a unique thing for Sims 4, and that Sims 4 shouldn't be raked over the coals for this particular thing when the superior past sims games didn't do it.
It seems many of us do agree that the AI and interactions should be improved.
We are also replying to your later post by saying that no previous sims games acknowledges the sick sims in a meaningful way.
Just because a sim has the ability to make Chicken soup doesn't mean the sim AI acknowledges the other sick sims.
Listen, I love Sims 2, but I I don't remember my Sims 2 sims noticing/recognizing when the other sims in the household were sick. Did they in your game? "bunny-gypsy;15409301" wrote:

Heh. The only acknowledgment they ever got was from me trying to keep them all away from each other so it wouldn't keep spreading. That's another thing they forgot to add with S4.
Acknowledgement on the sims' part would be a nice touch for any sims game.
