The only thing that bothers me about the scared emotion is my sims not going to school or work when living in a haunted residential which meant that I couldn't let things get as crazy as I wanted but other than that I find it all quite funny.
That is the point tho. That actions do have consequences, something that has been lacking from Sims 4 from the beginning (the game is simply too easy, always has been).
Yeah, sims cancelling work and school because they are scared does sound annoying, I'm not sure what could be causing it, that has never happened to me.
But other than that, this pack actually punishes you for not reducing the spirit level and I like that as well, this is much more like an actual game with consequences and less of the old sims 4 packs where your sims are constantly happy and the game holds your hand. And if you ask me, this is what the sims4 needs and is a step in the right direction. - LiELF5 years agoLegendThe entire point of having your Sim live in a haunted house is to challenge their fears and find a way to overcome them to be able to live acceptably with the ghosts.
That's the purpose and design of the Paranormal pack. Not to live with Caspar the friendly ghost while life continues as normal.
If you're not doing anything to ease your Sim's fear or de-escalate the hauntings, like taking a cautious shower, hiding under the bed covers, removing spirit symbols and objects, trying to appease ghosts with gifts, etc...you are going to have a hard time controlling what's happening and things will be chaotic. This is by design. You, the player, must put effort into resolving these challenges in order for your Sim to live a somewhat peaceful existence. If you allow Guidry to hang around nightly and talk to him, he will not only give you tips, he will sometimes help get rid of haunted objects. But if you were expecting to be able to just have your Sims live in a haunted house and have everything be fine and normal, you were mistaken and this pack isn't for you.
I've had Sims going to school just fine. Sometimes their needs are lower and they're a little stressed out, but this actually makes complete sense. I do not play with any mods in my game. If you do and you've been having issues despite putting in the proper efforts, it's probably something in your mods. If you've been putting in the proper efforts to get your Sims' fears under control and their work/school is still consistently disrupted, you might have a bug. If you just don't like having your Sims be scared all the time, this pack isn't for you, change the lot type back to a normal residential, and move on.
The Scared emotion is fine and if I think it needs any tuning, it's because I think Vampires and Spellcasters need to also inflict fear with their aggressive actions and Sims need more fears and phobias to choose from. I think it needs more influence, and more options for playing with it, not less. It's the most fun and challenging emotion in the game. - texxx785 years agoSeasoned Ace

Something I noticed when I was playing with the Goth family in a haunted residential and doing all the steps required to keep the peace is that the haunting would still ramp up every so often to the point that Temperance would eventually appear and then suddenly it would all calm down again after her appearance for a period of time. It's possible I was missing something but I felt like I was being quite thorough.
The Sims not going to work and school issue would of been okay if it was just a random day here and there but my sims were missing days at a time and were getting to the point of not affording their bills. I was wanting things to get super crazy in their haunting but sadly this mechanic or bug I'm not sure which said no to that. - Babykittyjade5 years agoSeasoned Ace@LiELF ?????? end of discussion
- Kita53995 years agoSeasoned Ace@LiELF I completely agree with you when actively playing a haunted lot. My issue with it has more to do with the traits than the fear emotion itself to be fair.. I just think when it comes to fear outside of hauntings, it should be tailored to be more unique to each Sim. Adult Sims should only be afraid of weather if they have certain traits, but kids and toddlers could be afraid no matter what. Sims should only have a fear of water if they have certain traits/lifestyles/or actions that cause it. I would however love to see changes made for occults, Vlad should not be afraid of a ghost, but other Sims should fear him.

I can see that problem with mostly all emotions and traits... Unfortunatelly it's a sims 4' core problem... - Kita53995 years agoSeasoned Ace

Oh absolutely, it’s unfortunate because there was so much potential. - LiELF5 years agoLegend

Yeah, I think the hauntings are supposed to be a little unpredictable and not have an "ending" so to speak, because the lot type won't change back to normal on its own. If the player decides the haunting has been resolved, they have the option to do that manually.
But your school issues could very well be a bug if they are that disruptive You could check on the EA AHQ site to see if there's been a report. The official QA team reviews all of the bug reports there and there's also some helpful people who can sometimes find the cause or suggest a temporary solution until the bug is fixed. - LiELF5 years agoLegend

I do think it's odd that the few phobias we have in the game just pop up randomly and are not able to be influenced by the player to be fine tuned for personality, or a result of Traits (that I can tell). It's another one of those weird backwards things that seem to be a part of the Sims 4 general mechanics.
