I moved two sims in together and when they got married, the female still has the same last name she did before they got married, and their child has her last name.

There's a workaround. I can't remember right now if I had to have Origin online or not -- I think I had it off -- but anyway, here it is:Ctrl-Shift-Ctestingcheats truecas.fulleditmode (edited to add this, left it out before, sorry)Shift-Click on your Sim and choose "Modify in CAS" This takes you to CAS, where you can change the name.You can also change the household name by going to Manage World. There's no cheat involved in this one. Just choose the family and change the household name.I was successful in changing the wife's name, the child's name, and the household name using these methods.

I was watching an LP and that happened. Score 1 for feminism but 0 for you if you want to change the names. IDK who the kids got the last name from.

This happened to me too. You can choose the babies last name upon birth, but either spouse's original last name stays the same as before they were married.

You cannot change the last name in CAS via testing cheats. It tells you that you cannot modify pre-created sims or something along those lines. You can only edit their appearance through that.And this happens to me, too. I reported it last night and posted in the bug thread. Had a sim host a wedding party, after the party ended his new spouse went home along with the other guests and her last name did not change. Nice work, Sims team! How many expansions do we have to wait through for this to be rectified? I enjoy the game but these little things are starting to build up and get to me. They really dropped the ball when it comes to sims relationships with one another. No family trees, no real in-depth relationships between family members, the only relationships you have indicated via the panel are the bare basics: sibling, parent, grandparent. No uncles, no cousins (far as I am aware), no in-laws. The new emotions system is all froth and no substance when features that would tie it them together are missing. I had the parents of a sim die and they didn't even feel sad about because they didn't witness the deaths! Another sim-child's parents got divorced right in front of him and he didn't even react, no sad mood, nothing! Really missing the old aspirations system in TS3 with wants/fears and decent aspirations. If TS3 actually played without stuttering like it's sinking into a swamp, I would go back to it until expansions are released for TS4 but I can't stand even the minimal amount of stutter.

Marriage last names changing is a known bug.

However when using the CAS Cheat, I'd recommend saving a game twice - one cheated, 1 non-cheated. CAS Cheats have also been known to cause issues as well, such as Load Errors. So use it with caution, taking steps to avoid any game loss.

LOL! on the serious note, the more I play this game, the more I see that this game has been rushed. Seriously the Sims 3 took three years to make, why Rush The Sims 4 in slightly more than a years time? This game surely shows that it was made in less than half of the time of the Sims 3. You would think with testing and the Devs playing this game that they would notice stuff like this? So do they even test their own product. I mean most of the issues are truly simple issues like, Not being able to delete one floor tile. No last name change after marriage, Adding foundation to your house even raise the foundation to rooms not connected to your house, and many more issues... This game is very disappointing...

Agreed. I just got it a few days ago and now I can't even believe I paid for this. I have been playing the sims since it first came out as The Sims and though the graphics and loading are much better I have to admit I am extremely disappointed in the game play. They should have waited longer before releasing it and made it more complete. I feel like I am playing a Beta version or something. :/

The sad part is, the game was already pushed back once, it was originally supposed to be released in spring 2014.

There is now a renaming mod. I haven't tried it, but it's gotten good feedback.

Not weird. Just a matter of time. You can only change their names after 9 am and before... 6 pm I think?

I was extremely disappointed when I had my first wedding in the game only to find out that the wife's name didn't change. I am so far disappointed in the whole game! I like the overall look of TS4 and some of the new features, but I do not consider TS4 to be an improvement over TS3 what-so-ever!

I was mainly looking forward to having rotational play back in TS4 and being able to create long generations of families. But it almost defeats the purpose now that family trees are gone, last names don't change, and the memory system and biographies are gone. Why EA, WHY!?!?

OMG! That's so extreme. My game works fine but, gosh, you all have such troubles that, OMG, what a horror. I can't believe you all had to PAY for this rushed release that, whah?, actually works for most of us.

By count, there are 30 of you whining and only your lot seems to be the ones affected.

WTF is your problem? You've posted this same idea in two topics, both of which are about things that are actually universal. Names don't change on marriage for everyone's game, not just 30-odd people. The square-jaw, small-eye YA males are in everyone's game, not just the games of people who happen to have spoken up about the problem and helped narrow it down - and that was confirmed by developers.
