Legacy and rotational gameplay

Hi all. I've started what is supposed to be a legacy with one YA female. By now she has two daughters and I'm getting too attached to them. I know that at some point one of them will leave the house to pursue her own dreams. But I don't want to leave any of them. How do you play rotational? How do you divide your time?

When you move your daughter out, go to the Gameplay section on the menu. You'll probably want Aging on for the Active Household only. You'll then have to decide whether you want the Unplayed households to age as well. If so, I'd recommend turning Aging on for unplayed households when you go back to your original household and turning it off when you go to the daughter's house.

How often you switch households is up to you. Changing once a week is fairly common. If you do it early on Sunday morning, then you won't impact your Sims' jobs and school.

I love playing several households and curently have 10 in rotation. Have fun!

I turn aging off when I go play with the other households. I only keep aging active when playing with the heir to my legacy and play for one sim week then check up on the others. With aging off on the others I can set them up how I want and let their families grow as needed. Just have to monitor when their aging progress so I'm not missing out on any important life events for them; birthdays and death. It can get time consuming but I love each of my families and they're all different in some way. But playing like this does take a long time to build up generations, the furthest i've gotten is 5 and I wanna go for 10.

@MVWdeZT has a good idea turning on aging for the played household only. I haven't played like that but it isn't a bad idea if you wanna keep the premade families from getting old and dying off since there isn't story progression in the game.
  • I play it this way. This is just an example. I have 4 households -
    1. Smith
    2. Jones
    3. Wilson
    4. Evans
I switch the households every Monday 6am, step by step = first to fourth = Smith to Evans. When there is a YA sim who wants to live on his/her own, (s)he gets on the bottom of the list, that would be number five on my list. I move him/her out and keep playing with the original family, then on Monday I move to the next family on the list, and so on. The aging is on only for active family, but when I play with the first family I turn aging on for townies as well so they are not stucked in their age forever.
