Legacy Houses!

That depends on the rules I have in effect. In low-earning, heavily restricted settings, it is very satisfactory to watch a small hut grow to a house and eventually a mansion. But if I allow every option the game offers me (and subsequently roll in money), then I move out with my heir, leaving the house to the spare(s).

(Most of the time I quite around Gen. 5, though.)

That is really interesting that you move out with the heir & leave the house to the spares! I’m leaning towards watching the house grow, but I really like that idea, too!

Also, you make it farther than me—I’ve only ever made it to gen 3! Lol. I’m really hoping that all of the upcoming new content will inspire me to keep going

I'm playing a legacy challenge right now where you move to a new world every generation, so, I'm building (or downloading, or adopting and modifying) a new house every generation :)

I guess I could bring the old house with me by saving it to my library, but, what fun would that be.

It depends, most of the time if I get attached I may just keep adding on for a couple generations before moving if at all, one of my oldest legacies I always let the spares stay with the parents and the heirs got a new house. However I still hung out there and added onto the house, while another I would add on as family members died cause it felt weird to take their space, especially playing on short ha. My sims are gonna have so many babies they'll probably be moving more.

Oh, moving to a new world seems like a great way to keep things “fresh”, lol! That sounds really fun!

I feel like I’ll probably end up just adding on until I feel like moving or getting a new house altogether. I like that everyone still thinks of their spares! :) Haha.

I find I quickly get bored playing in the same house or world for too long, so I move the next gen heir to a new world and leave the spare with the parents to inherit the house when they pass. Depending on my plans, I may have the new heir start from scratch and earn their way to a new house or give them their share of the household funds and build right away.

I've found that I like family homes better if I start from scratch every so often (not after every generation, but when I feel the need). Adding as I go seems to never look that nice, and it's great to sometimes start over from 0. Changing neighborhoods/worlds also keeps things fresh.

Yeah, I think that's why I get bored with legacy challenges, so maybe switching it up like a lot of you guys would help keep me more interested, lol. I think it's sweet that your spares stay with their parents, too!

Hmm, maybe that would be easier for me, too-switching it up whenever I feel the need. I don't want to get bored playing, but I also worry that redesigning a whole new house every generation would get exhausting, lol.

I just hit my 10 generations all on the same lot, and when my heir comes of age (young adult) I then evaluate if I want to rearrange the house or rebuild on my lot. So sometimes I will just update their bedrooms as they age and then add onto the house as it grows, but other times I am like this house doesn't work anymore so I will demolish it and build a new house on the same lot.

Wow, that is awesome! Congrats on making it through 10 generations! Yeah, I feel like evaluating how I feel throughout my gameplay is probably the best way to go about it, lol. I love how everyone does their legacies a little differently!
