Spellcaster is suitable as a generic term. If you want to call your spellcaster a witch, or warlock, or wizard, or necromancer, or sorcerer, or druid, or mage, or magic user, or cleric, or priest, or conjurer, or magician, or arcane trickster, or battlemage, or night blade, or any of the other countless terms, then you can do it. A spellcaster is someone who casts spells. All of the aforementioned classes and archetypes are spellcasters.
