- Sharooonia5 years agoNew SpectatorI have them turned on again in my game. It bothers me to keep big features turned off. My sims that live together all tend to get the same ones which is somewhat a little boring but it also doesn't bother me. People Person is almost guaranteed for every sim I've noticed no matter what traits they have. I feel like whatever requirements this lifestyle has needs some changes.

The change would, actually, be quite simple: to not count family members. Because having 3 friends in a 4-person household is quite easy. More so if you give birth at home which bonks the baby to be friend-level with anyone else in the household.- Widowed sims will gradually slip towards the "Single and loving it" lifestyle if they don't find another partner.
I've considered it a bit harsh at first, considering that many people in reality, who are widowed later in their life (meaning 60+), don't seek another relationship as a sign of being faithful to their partner even beyond "till death do us part".
Then, my grandma is widowed for over 20 years and doesn't seem to struggle (though I guess it's partly because her garden and a cat keep her occupied), so maybe the way TS4 behaves isn't that far from reality...
*shrugs* - Beardedgeek724 years agoNew SpectatorThe only bug I have is that I can have more than 3, but I have not gotten any contradictionary ones.
As for the rest: I don't have a problem.
1. Lifestyles takes a fairly long time to aquire
2. They also are lost if you don't follow them.
Basically if your Sims comes home from Uni as a people person (because he or she made a lot of friends. If you check their friendship tab they probably have a bunch of classmates so it makes sense) just stop seeing people and that lifestyle will go away. - Beardedgeek724 years agoNew Spectator

I need a mod that raises the friendship cap for close-knit sims. I had to make one of my sims be mean and tank a friendship cause she was tense all day from having too many friends.
OR you could just keep it up and fairly soon she would be a People Person instead. That's how it works. And is supposed to work. The lifestyles adapt to your play, not the other way around. You are not supposed to adapt your playstyle to get a lifestyle, you get a lifestyle based on how you currently play your Sim and they WILL be changed automatically when your Sim changes.
Edit: Example: When my Sims go thru Uni, they probably become people persons and indoorsy. Quite naturally, since they live in a dorm and do homework indoors all day every day.
but when they move back home to their loved ones they soon become outdoorsy and close knit because that's how I play them. - mightyspritesims4 years agoSeasoned HotshotOh thanks for the helpful comments @musteni and @TomasGrizzly , sorry for the slow response.
My original household members have actually all acquired the Outdoorsy lifestyle now (or did, before their deaths). It just took a lot longer than Techie to acquire. No snowboarding or fishing required. :) Generation 2 was teens when the lifestyles patch came along. Gen 3, born in game after the patch, are teens now and don't yet have any lifestyles I think-- will have to check. - Ulf-Gunnel4 years agoNew SpectatorI really like the idea with lifestyles but I think that they need to be fixed (buggy +need some tuning +need an option to turn off certain lifestyles on a sim = the sim can´t evolve this lifestyle), but I hope they will expand on this and add new lifestyles with new packs (Juice-fanatic / Pretantious -artsy / Beachbum / Sweet-tooth / Don Juan). I made a discussion / thread on everything that need to be fixed (with lifestyles and other features) in future patches/updates for SNOWY ESCAPE
LIFESTYLES - FIXES & UPDATES
LIFESTYLES
*The notification that the sim has reached the limit of how much they can work towards a lifestyle in one day => also tell me which lifestyle
*Possibility to “turn off” specific lifestyles on a sim (= the sim can´t evolve this lifestyle)
*The Lifestyles needs to affects autonomous actions (e.g. A sim with the “Health Food Nut” shall not grab servings of popcorns/unhealthy quick meals all the time)
Close-knit / People person
*Should only count friends OUTSIDE the family (and no pets! You don´t need to be a People person just because you have a lot of kids/relatives)
*Higher minimum friends for the “People person” (you ain´t either Close knit or People person)
*Add the new relationship professional relation to avoid getting the “people person” from work (e.g. if your sim is a doctor and speak to their patients)
professional relation
*All relationships at work (e.g. your colleagues, or the relations with your patients if you´re a doctor) or with working sims (e.g. the barista / librarian / food stand employee) will list as a Professional relation (work as a regular relationship but you will not become friend with them)
*Click on a sim in your relationship panel and choose “Get to know IRL” to start a “real” (friendly) relationship
Junk Food Devourer
*Fix the animation so you can add bacon / sugar on a meal when SITTING and MULTITASK (=that you don´t need to cancel the eating action to add bacon / sugar and you sims don´t need to stand up to do this).
*Possibility to “add bacon / sugar” + grab a meal when taking a serving from a group meal
Adrenaline seeker
*Fix so you don´t get the “Adrenaline seeker” lifestyle from skiing/snowboarding on a low intensity level. Only activate this lifestyle from “high intensity” skiing/snowboarding/climbing.
Frequent Traveler
*Need some tuning or maybe give us the ability to “turn off” certain lifestyles on a sim?
Why not just activate this lifestyle if a sim travels A LOT?? And if they travels to new destinations all the time? “Frequent traveler” will start to activate on all sims in a family after ONE longer vacation (7 days). Some of my sims are interested in skiing as a hobby, Mt Komorebi is the only place where you can ski, but I don´t want them to have the “Frequent traveler”.
LIFESTYLES - BUGS
*Lifestyles keeps adding (More than 3 lifestyles active at the same time)
*Can´t get rid of lifestyle (portion/lifestyle coach/cheat doesn´t work - the lifestyle will still show up in the sim panel and in the life styles panel) - Beardedgeek724 years agoNew SpectatorSpeaking of Adventurous Sims, there are a number of activities that count.
Skiing, snowboarding, mountain climbing, hiking yes.
BUT also: Diving, Snorkling, exploring caves, "Going on a rabbit hole adventure with your dog" (if your dog has the adventurous trait as well there is an option for that).
Also a number of careers automatically give the "On an adventure!" positive moodlet just by going to work: Any Astronaut career (and just doing space flights in general), Secret Agent career, going thru the portal to Sixam as a scientist... - Ulf-Gunnel4 years agoNew SpectatorI had to turn lifestyles off a couple of days ago when my sims got their third child. The parents wasn't even happy with the little one and got stuck in a constant tensed mood because their new friend (the newborned baby) wasn't in line with their Close knit lifestyle. That's really awful parenting. Luckily are babies still objects so there were no hurt feelings (I guess?)... ehe... :# But I mean, this is just ridicilous, close knit / people person should not count friends inside the family. Hope they fix this soon (March patch?). Have to play with the Lifestyles turned off until then... :'(

I had to do the same because my sims were constantly bored because they weren't doing anything that was thrilling. But now my sims aren't bored so much since I had disabled lifestyles.
