I've never seen a maid clean more than once a day. I do often get the message that a maid has cleaned while no sims are home and I'm charged for it but then the house still has mess. Maids often come and just stand around doing nothing when my sims are home and I find it quite frustrating to see. Also I'm sure they keep breaking my washing machines too to the point that they bug and can't even be repaired.
