Making a single meal or a group meal

I don't think that there is a difference in the increase of the cooking skill between making a single and a group meal. After the meal is cooked, and servings taken, whatever is not eaten can be put away in the fridge for eating later on. Sims can get a serving later on when their hunger need drops.

Oh..I forgot to tell that I want to raise up the cooking skill quickly. If I let my sim take the leftover from the fridge, then my sim wouldn't have to cook and their cooking skill would be slow down.

Oh no..50 points is actually quite big point in the sims 4. I'm planning to hold a party and maybe give the food away to all the guests? What do you think? Thanks for the answer for the skill question. :)

It is a great idea to hold a party and use the food for it :) The food then won't be wasted, and your sim will have got the 50 points from cooking the group meal.

I really like the cooking skill. And especially in the beginning, I will never have a sim cook when not inspired. I either use "take thoughtful shower" or "cloudgaze / stargaze" action and then have them cook. If their fun is down, I will have them watch the cooking channel while eating, making additional use of the inspired moodlet that way.

This is what I would do. The food isn't wasted if it's shared with others.

There's no difference between the meals but if you cook single meals you'll have to cook more often and since you improve the skill with every time you cook single meals would be the better option.

Also, for anyone wondering or just wants a tip, your sim can watch the cooking channel while they're cooking. I'm trying to make the ambrosia, which requires level 10 cooking skill and level 10 gourmet cooking skill, so I put a TV in the kitchen so he can level up his cooking skill by watching the cooking channel while levelling up his gourmet skill by cooking gourmet meals. I expect if you cooked (non-gourmet) meals while watching the cooking channel, it would probably level up the regular cooking skill faster?
