- I'm sorry that this made me laugh, but it did. That would be me if someone asked me to "watch the cake".
Have you tried putting the cake inside something?
The broadcaster which attracts sims to grab a slice doesn't function if it is inside something other than a sim inventory or refrigerator. Put it in a sticker box or ICYA chest... or even in a picnic basket. (I'm not sure if there's autonomous unpacking of the picnic basket, but I've never seen happen in my game.
Another option would be to completely turn off the autonomous action for sneaking cake, using MCCC's MC Tuner. You could put the cake out on a table and it would be safe if you did that. Then just turn the autonomy back on once the cake is being served. This is a little bit of a tedious solution, but it only requires a couple of mouse clicks.
I think this issue is why they added the function to save the wedding cake to the event itself. That has been, allegedly, fixed in the most recent patches. So trying that is an option too. I've personally never used that feature though, so I'm speculating. - crocobaura4 years agoLegendFeed them before buying the cake? Or maybe put it in a fridge, outside their reach.
- @crocobaura, refrigerators all share the same inventory, so the refrigerator trick wouldn't work unless you make all refrigerators on the lot inaccessible.
The camping cooler chest should work though. Those don't share the same inventory as a refrigerator. - loubyloulou4 years agoSeasoned Ace

"You can't wait one day to eat the cake?!" :D
Hmm, good idea to try the picnic basket, chest or cooler, thanks. - crocobaura4 years agoLegend

I know fridges share inventory, but the OP said the cake was in the sims inventory. I was merely suggesting they remove it from there and put it somewhere less accessible. - Serendipity05784 years agoSeasoned AceI don't think that you can put food in any of the coolers. You might be able to put the cake in one of the storage chests.

Yah, I wasn't sure about that myself. I use a lot of overrides for game items that look like they "should" be containers, but aren't, so I can't always keep track of what things are really storage and what aren't in an unmodded game.
The Sticker Boxes which I mention can hold food though, and I know those are containers in the game and not related to any overrides I use. Same goes for the picnic basket.- lanlynk4 years agoLegendI mentioned this mod option in another thread. It's my solution.
RVSN's Cake A Break Buyable Cakes which protects cakes and keeps them fresh."Buy a delicious, outstanding quality cake from the ‘Piece of Cake’ bakery! Purchased cakes are stored safe and sound in the pink box so your sims don’t go grabbing a slice before you have added the candles. All EA cakes & some CC cakes available for purchase. ...Can be stored in your sim's inventory."

Yeah, I have this mod, but I must not be using it correctly... I can buy a wedding cake from it, but in order to set the cake as the one you want for the wedding, you have to remove it from the pink box – right?! And then, once set, I can't get it to go back into box... :# - 83bienchen4 years agoSeasoned AceYou don't have to set the cake as a wedding cake. I've never done that (partly because it was responsible for the Save Error 0 bug).
