My cat has NEVER gotten sick and hasn't ever been needing to go to the vet!?

I've had a cat for a LONG time in my game now... and never once has it ever gotten sick. Is this a bug? Or is my cat just extremely lucky?

I mean, I guess it's weird to complain about... but I specifically created two vet clinics in my game. I was hoping to make use of each one at least once or twice... but I've never had an actual reason to go there. And I don't just wanna go to get him fixed either. I was hoping for a bit more need for the vet clinics, but I haven't had one yet.

Also, non-played households are extremely irresponsible with their pets... every time I visit another household with a dog or cat, their pet is ALWAYS sick with some kind of illness... their nose or paws are ALWAYS red. They're clearly in distress, but they never seem to be helped whenever I go over. Is that also a bug? And has anyone else noticed this as well?

My pets get sick often. It is actually annoying as I have to go to vet clinic where I see my other sims with their sick pets who weren't sick before. Then I rotate households and those pets who didn't get treated are still ill and I have to go back to vet and the cycle repeats. That's why every time I send my sims to vet I buy many wellness treats so next time when the pet is ill I can just give this treat.
While my pets get sick from time to time, the elder pets get sick more often (That makes the life stage more sad!).
  • EA-please fix this! I'm fed up with seeing sick pets everywhere in Brindleton Bay!

I think it's random... My cat is not in brindleton bay but just got sick, the poor thing was coughing and coughing, had swamp breath. I kept hearing a sad noise and I went to my cat instinctively, and I saw her collapsing on the floor, poor kitty.
Have you heard that sad'ish' noise followed by your pet collapsing? That means the pet is sick. You could've just missed it. God knows I did too
  • Since I stopped feeding my Sim pets 'people' food they seldom become ill. So true to Real Life. My late Border Collie had allergy issues related to people food. I wondered why my Sim pets were needing to see the vet every week so I experimented with various things like keeping them happier and refraining from spoiling them with bits of food at dinner time. So far my pets have stayed healthy.
  • I started using the LittleMsSam no-sick-dirty-sad-and-hungry-cats-dogs mod but strays in Brindleton Bay are still sick so I guess it is not working.

If you are playing in any other world but Brindleton Bay - I believe they will only get sick if you put one of the pee/woohoo bushes on the sim's property (I don't think it has to be the one that came with Cats and Dogs). Without the bush - there are no other animals or anything that would make them sick. They fake attack birds and squirrels in the bushes and then get sick sometimes from that - it is usually the same sickness over and over from a squirrel bite - rabies or something - I forget the name of the sickness. They will leave a bunch of those feathers too all around the bushes.

I really dislike that pets in other worlds are so different from pets in Brindleton Bay - the sicknesses and strays are way overdone in Brindleton Bay (which is why I don't really like my sims to live there even though I love the town itself) but do not exist at all in the other worlds.

As for pets always being sick when you visit other sims - yes, that always happens- why, I do not know. If I am playing around a lot of pets - I always keep wellness snacks in the sim's inventory and give them to the sick strays or the ones my sim visits and it cures them.

No PooHoo bush on my lot, and my cat just got sick -- I had to exit without saving though because I gave her the age-down treat thinking it would take her to the beginning of the current life stage and it ended up turning her into a kitten. :o My current family is in Newcrest but I just added a vet clinic to that world so I wonder if that might be the reason. (I had so much rain in Newcrest the first year I only got to the park there a couple of times, so I build an indoor play place (Magic Castle) on the 30x30 lot and put the Country Clinic on the 40x30 where the park was.)
  • @stilljustme2 Oh, OK - I too wonder if it is because you put a vet clinic in the same town. None of my sims pets ever got sick in other towns unless I had the bush but I only had the vet clinic in Brindleton Bay. I originally got the bush because one of the cats had the prowler trait but had nothing to prowl and I felt bad for it so I got the bush - started getting sick soon after I got it.
