Nerd Brain aspiration

I never really paid much attention to aspiration rewards or quests, as I mostly used aspirations to describe personalities. But last night I dived a bit deeper, and found that most aspirations actually has extra traits that comes with benefits. I'll focus more on this in the future.

One Asp that surprised me is the Nerd brain asp. I always used this to build a professor type who is thinking, reading, analyzing etc - the Scientist type. But now I found that Nerd brain's greatest benefit is fixing stuff, in other words the Handiness skill??? I had no idea, I thought the benefit would be more related to Logic. So, my next question - what is the different between a Nerd brain fixing stuff and an ordinary sim who read up on Handiness - what is the exact Aspiration benefit?

The Handy reward trait allows your Sim to instantly repair objects and instantly apply all upgrades. Quite a bit faster than the normal process, although that's still available, with no risk of failure. You might still want to use the normal repair command to gain more skill, since you can complete the aspiration without maxing the skill. You also might want to use the normal upgrade commands to control which upgrades you get, especially if you have Eco Lifestyle. I don't usually want composting toilets and fuel-cell powered appliances.

@Handel You could build the rocket on the lot next door. That's what I did so my Sim could eat a grilled cheese sandwich in space. You'll even save 5000 simoleons since you don't have to pay for the kit.
ETA: Never mind, forgot you have to actually own a rocket for the Nerd Brain aspiration

Ok, time saving might be good.

But am I the only one not thinking of handymen when I read "nerd brain"?

It's also on how to be handy. It's sorta a mix of handiness, rocket science (getting a rocket ship is key to the aspiration) and logic. I'm actually going to have to move a gal out of the small home she lived in, which I like but I need the yard space to actually plant down a rocket ship to complete this.

I understand what you're saying, but I do think it makes sense. A 'Nerd Brain' being a "geek" that is better than anyone at understanding appliances and electronics isn't that far fetched if you look at the aspiration milestones. What makes less sense to me is the reward trait for the Freelance Botanist aspiration is that your Sim becomes fearless around fire. But that's a topic for another thread, I suppose.

With nerd brain and now the engineering career in the game, you could tilt a sim either way - toward engineering and the more "handy," tinkering and mechanically minded side; or as you described above toward the scientifically minded side. It's really too bad they can't update some of the older aspirations, or add more new ones than they do to incorporate new pack content.
