Giving you all a warning here specially if the sim who is inviting you is a playable one.Well, here is what happened to me.I was playing the pancakes and got an invitation for a birthday party from one of my playable household sims. This girl was a teen and just became a young adult. Her mother is a young adult too but in her last few days until she becomes an adult.I accepted the invitation and went to the party. I honestly did not think that she will really age, but she did!!! Now the girl is adult while her mom is young adult :s Luckily I had a previous save so everything was canceled.Just be careful if you are not sure you want to age a sim quickly specially a playable one.

So instead of the game picking up on a sim who legitimately has a birthday, the game is creating random instances of "Birthday Party" and aging sims without rhyme or reason?

I guess all the game does is pick up one random sim who is in good relation with your sim and just you get the call. Not a good mechanic for sure. Nooo I hope they change this; you can't have a child older than their parents! Maybe they'll sort this out in an update? It needs to only be sims who are about to age up anyway that have birthday parties.

Yeah I have aging off so I assumed I wouldn't get any birthday invites until I switched it back on. But nope, got one the other day from a friend who is the same age as my oldest Sims, as I make it a point for my Sims and all their friends to be around the same age. I also have aging set on the longest setting, so basically no one should be aging up anytime soon, whether aging is on or not everyone is around 50+ days before they reach the proper adult age. But since I read that getting invited will age up the Sim inviting you I decided to decline.

Never go to a birthday party if you got invited

That's what I would pretty much expect to happen, knowing EA.

You could use the cheat "cas.fulleditmode" go into CAS and change back the age of the sim. Why do they only invite you to birthday parties!? What about a simple house party!?

I also had bad experiences with the birthday party. Instead of Malcolm Landgraab aging up, it was my sim how blew up the candles. :(

It has been my experience that cas.fulleditmode age change among other things causes problems with the game.
1) Any CAS activity is known to reset game achievements.
2) Some bugs can be attributed to using cas.fulleditmode.
3) more that I can not remember right now

I wish Simmers would stop suggesting that others use that cheat with informing them what it actually can do.

I didn't mind the birthday party I attended -- it was my Sim's mom and I was pretty much ready for her to age up to adult anyway.
