Never rejected marriage proposal? What? (with new patch)

I'm a little confused about this patch note:

"Sims now can propose to their beloved without rejection (congratulations!)."

While I assume by the use of the word "beloved" that implies high relationship value but...I'm not sure if thats just them being cute in patch notes or that means that sims never get rejected whne they propose now. What about sims with traits that made it harder to marry them (or say yes).

I hope this is an actual bug fix that saw sims always rejecting marriage proposals before no matter what (i rarely propose since my sims are are married anyway) and not some kinda weird "never get rejected" patch so sim players don't get their feelings hurt when their sim is rejected.

Anybody know?

  • This had me confused as well. I know they fixed the constant rejecting before and I've never had an issue since then. Maybe there's still some issues? I really hope sims won't always accept now. It's no fun when everything have to be so positive all the time.
  • Hm...

I saw this as well. Part of the fun of having a sim with somewhat clashing personalities can be to work toward a relationship. I have had sims getting rejected from moving too fast just after getting a first kiss or because one was not interested in relationships.

Hope that kind of fun is still working.
  • If I'm understanding correctly, is that they fixed the bug that's been in game for a long time where Sims that had multiple boyfriends/girlfriends....it wouldn't allow the proposal to happen & it would say something about employment as the reason. I'm excited about this as I always had to have my Sim breakup with all their other partners just for the proposal to work & now it looks like it's fixed.

From the Patch Notes: On the same note, Sims with multiple romantic partners now can propose and marry one of them and not get sabotaged by their partners’ predicament of not being able to get married because they are employed together, even when they are not.
  • I think it was poorly worded. There have been issues where sims were guaranteed to get rejected when they proposed before, like one where they’d absolutely get rejected if they were outside at the time. I figure they didn’t want to say “and they might even get a yes” or something similar in the notes.
  • Yes, I've had that issue before were simmies would say they couldn't marry anyone who was "in their employment" but they weren't colleagues or professors from Uni or anything. I'm glad this was fixed. It affects a lot of gameplay for me since my sims usually marry townies from bars lol
  • The sit down marriage proposal rejection for the Sims 2 was always the best, I still laugh every time i see it.

You can see it here, just skip exactly to 2 minutes into the video.

So well done, I love the part at the end where he's like "hey but we cant still be friends!" lol
  • Indeed, poorly worded.
I was already getting confused by sims with the non-committal trait who would accept steady relationships that aren't right for them.

What triggers these rejections? in my 500+ hours of playing, i haven't had any Sim rejected.

I had two Sims who were lifelong friends become boyfriend and girlfriend, then the female asked the male to marry her. He said they should wait a while since they just became boyfriend and girlfriend. This was very soon after her sister had gotten married. Neither Sim had the noncommittal trait.
